Over 80K miles on my AEM never cleaned but I am waiting for the day the Filter Minder sends up the RED flag and says clean the filter. I will then do a few runs to show before and after results. Question is how many filters would I have bought had I changed the filter because it looked dirty?

Fluttering Noise from Undercarriage and Dashboad Rattle
macbwt replied to CCMAYES72's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
The platform you are driving is actually a new platform for the 2nd Gen Edge but it is also a reallocated platform based from the Fusion. So yes and no to your belief that this is a carry over from the 1st gen and 1.5 refresh of the previous Edge runs. Since it is a redesign and use there will be new issues.- 90 replies

I do not believe it, you are an Alien sent from Zandor and given a job by the men in black to work at Ford and then secretly planted into this Forum to observe us and plan for a world take over forcing everyone to drive a Prius

After about 8 times around the circumference of the earth and just 40K miles short of a one way trip to the moon. My Edge LU has now developed wheel bearing failure. Not exactly sure which wheel(s) but I will let it ride just a bit longer to make it easier to determine the failed wheel then if it is the back I will replace both rears and so on. Either way I will be replacing ALL four wheel bearings shortly. Now just to decided do I go with OEM motorcraft, SKF, Timken or Moog so many decisions.

A TStat is not going to make your engine run cooler. All it will do is open sooner. The engine will still reach operating temps and not prevent it from reaching those temps or keep it cooler. Only way is to add more volume and larger radiator to keep coolant temps down. Maybe on a short drive you will see some type of benefit. Any long drives it will mean nothing.

OIl up the impact driver. You will needed it if you have any salt on the roads. Also make sure you have the special tool for the rear piston to screw it in and compress it at the same time. Betting you see the inside pads on the rear are worn much more and maybe at an angle. Clean ALL rust off of the bracket and buy extra break (for Akirby LOL) Brake grease I use the CRC ceramic brake grease and am rather liberal with it. Seems to hold up well and last with water and environmental conditions. Always take your brakes apart every fall and re-clean and lube them up they will last longer and wear more evenly.

2016 Ford Edge Sport System Failure
macbwt replied to aphxtwinin's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Does not appear to be a TB issue as the engine is running? Can not tell in the video. Dash lights are acting like the engine is off and the Key is on. My guess is a TCM or PCM related issue. Might be trans related if you have AWD then it may be related to a PTU AWD drive issue also. Systems are designed these days to try to prevent damage from failures of system sensors. I would invest in an OBDII and program like Forscan to be able to identify issues and see them real time. -
Gosh, I am at 200,000 just about. Only suspension work I have done to my Edge is new struts and strut bearing mounts. Check those and ball joints.

This is part one of a two part video on the cutting and then dissection of two water pumps. One pump is from a 2007-2010 Ford Edge and the other is from a 2011-2014 Ford Edge. Both are slightly different but yet have the same issue inside. Part two will show what happened to both of them..

Not sure of the model of your Edge as there is no XLT Maybe an SE, SEL, Limited or Sport Your issue is either missing power steering belt, no fluid, bad pump, leaking hoses which would be no fluid, or a bad rack. Those are about the only points that would affect steering. One other issue would be the power steering filter if you have a power steering filter.

For sale KYB struts 85 dollars gently used for 100K miles.

Nick If you saw the facilities that make the equipment you are using you may change your mind. I have several that make the military equipment that you use and is in the air craft. Each part is milled from high grade aluminum and other metals on multi million dollars machines. Coatings, are formulated according to military requirements and each step of the process the employees have computer screens with QA instructions and verification steps. The final products are micro metered and measured. If i could i would send you some photos of the processes. If you walked through these facilities I think you would have a better understanding.

I have never replaced them. They seem to handle the job pretty well.
-
You are making this harder than it needs to be. Just order the struts and strut bearing mount. Everything will work out. Never bought an insulator for any Edge just reuse and and it will be fine.

Spray that dry boot with some silicon spray. Then drive it.
-
Lube them
-
It could be that the PTU is getting so hot the gear lube is literally boiling out.

I am willing to bet that Ford now utilizes engine hours to determine oil usage. If some of you were to keep track of your engine hours (like I do now manually) you may very well find a correlation between hours of engine run time and miles. i.e. More idle and city less time until oil change and more highway more time until oil change. I doubt there is a sensor in the engine analyzing the oil. Just a computer program with set parameters.

The price of the navigation maps from Ford would make you just install an aftermarket system or just buy a GPS. Much cheaper and more accurate. I have a Nav and use my phone or GPS. Ford system in not good and expensive.

Not possible. Go with an after market unit.
