  1. I can confirm in my last video that they are attached to the valve stems for the 2011 and most likely up.
  2. Sure sounds like a power steering line and not an engine oil leak. The power steering lines are known to leak. If you have never changed your power steering fluid it will look black like oil because it is so dirty. I do not know of any engine oil issue in the area you described. Check your power steering fluid level.
  3. Try this http://www.centricparts.com/news-media/videos
  4. I am guessing mileage has no effect on them because I never had an issue on my 2008.
  5. Good thing I traded my orange crush. Putting new TPMS sensors in would have been the final straw.
  6. High carbon steel rotors will not wear bad with ceramic pads. Check out my video on the update on the rotors and ceramic pads. If you like rust buy cheap rotors and cheap pads. If you really like rusty rotors buy the slotted and drilled ones and you will be extremely happy with all the rust you can find. High carbon steel rotors are designed to dissipate the heat faster. They are also proved to be the better choice when it comes to heat and braking power. I recently used my brakes in an emergency situation and maneuvers and they performed very well and allowed some steering with the peddle to the floor and the anti lock engaged I still had steering control.
  7. Ok, I had an issue this morning that may have ended Lullubelle forever. I was traveling at 70mph on a rural four lane road with crossings. A pickup was turning right in a turn lane and a rather stupid driver did not wait and pulled out not knowing if the path was clear. Generally when a car turns I will get in the furthest lane. In this case that was the best choice. Out of the three possible scenarios the best one occurred. 1. he stopped just in time. Others 2) he does not stop soon enough and I clip is front end send me barrel rolling. 3) I T-bone him and he becomes a statistic and I get a life of regret if I live. The ceramic pads and new rotors worked well and the addition of new rear shocks definitely helped keep the rear end in line. This is the video, short but to the point.
  8. I did see them on line. Bit on the pricey side, but they do a hard sell for the quality. Maybe I will try them in the future.
  9. I would not remove the slider clips. They are designed to help the pads move more freely. The real issue is the rust that builds up under them that causes the binding. IF they were removed this would allow the pad tabs to fuse together with the caliper bracket and then no move at all. The best bet is to either sand blast the bracket or perform light grinding on them to clean up the rust then apply some brake lube on the exposed metal and the clips also.
  10. This video shows what I suspected and confirmed. The inside wheel bead was leaking. The reason for the leak was due to oxidation of the rim between the wheel and the tire bead. The oxidation eventually increased in enough amounts to allow air to seep out of the tire and cause the tire to loose enough air over about a two week time frame to activate the TPMS for a low tire. This video show the oxidation and the repair to the rim and tire to reseal it.
  11. Just performed a visual inspection after about 10k miles since the installation. Very little rust so far and could not really notice any wear on the pads. Doing very well. I will update once they get a little salt exposure from the winter. Here is the video update.
  12. Just to clarify the smell is from the catalytic converter, just a byproduct of it's operation. Another interesting side note is propane and natural gas are odorless. The industry adds the odor to the propane and natural gas to help people detect the leak by smell
  13. Well I never....exposing your topless engine to the public....
  14. Now a follow up video on how the new rear rotors and pads are wearing after just 10k miles. Hardly any wear is noticed. I am sure to be following up after a nice mild Iowa winter (ya I wish) anyway time will tell once the salt gets a hold of the metal. Here is the video. I will hold the shock install for next week as I have to go to a Mayors meeting and then I have to create the Church videos for this mornings service so rather busy.
  15. Figured out the slow air leak on the tire. This video shows what was causing the leak. The leak was caused by oxidation of the aluminum rim on the inside. Seems strange but if you think about it the salt most likely does not get rinsed off the inside of the wheel as much as it does on the outside at car washes etc. So it sit in the seam and causes oxidation and then build up enough to separate the tire bead from the rim and then the air leaks out. Here is what was discovered and how it was fixed.
  16. Rear shocks replaced on Lullubelle. Found some changes compared to the 2008 Orange Crush. I guess you can say they beefed up the rear suspension a bit. Bolts were definitely larger on the lower end, but found some really confusing engineering going on when it comes to bolt and nut sizes. Why one bolt uses two different sizes? Anyway as per my usual endeavors it is never a good MAC T video until I break something. LOL Yep at least I am consistent as a bull in a china shop. Never fear I still got the job done. Video to come, well actually two or three. I also figured out the slow leak on Blueberry and this may be a hum might have to address this issue if you are a rust belt dweller.
  17. Just a note that the lift supports are working great. I am going to the shop to install new rear shocks on Lullubelle tomorrow. I have ordered the strut bearing mounts for the right and left side. Next payday I will order the struts. So by the end of this month or early November I will have new shocks/struts all around and installing new snow tires at the first snow fall. PS Gas mileage has dropped so I guess I can safely assume that the gas companies have begun filling our tanks with the winter fuel mixture.
  18. OK I had to check mine out. Here is what I was seeing. Yes I set it to 77mph ODO was reading 77 as always (gps was at 75/6mph). Keep in mind the setting will never change since it is a goal for the car to match. The speedometer did vary a bit depending on hills (the up and down kind) thus the speedometer was up and down and varied on occasions. In a perfect world they would both match, but one is a setting and the other is real time input so to speak. Thus they will never actually match all the time.
  19. The first time is always scary and full of apprehension (follow me, we are talking about spark plugs). LOL The next time it is always easier. I have Blueberry working on 90K but that may be another year or two with the wife driving it.
  20. Sway bar links do make all sort of racket, but so do the Strut bearing mounts when they give up. Strut noise can be heard and diagnosed pretty easy. If the strut mounts are over 100k miles or near that then this may be the issue or if they replaced your swaybar links with cheap links then they most likely broke as the cheap ones I have discovered do not last more than about six months of use. In this video I discovered the sway bar link was broken and the noise was coming from the link. The torque mount was also bad but not making noise. you will hear the sway bar link at about 3:50 seconds into the video
  21. This may be of assistance even though it is a 2011, the 3.5 was not changed much. Hope this helps and this video is the 1st part of three videos changing out the plugs.
  22. Discount tire has the OEM size 18inch Blizzak snow tires for the 2011 Ford Edge for 153.00 dollars each plus tax.
  23. Not sure how the whole set up works, but I am assuming the actual speed sensor input for the speedometer is an electro-mechanical input and the cruse control setting is an electronic setting. Does this make sense? Essentially I assume nothing more than a calibration issue.
  24. Not yet. I however have the parts already purchased (learned from experience) I however am going to be replacing the front struts possibly next month. The rear shocks as soon as I can find the time to take Lullubelle off the road for a part of a day. Unfortunately I have been tied up with a 22hp Kohler riding mower that just threw a connecting rod and destroyed its self.

    Named your Edge?

2011 Edge Limited (Wife's car named by MercyGirl and Cuddle Bug) = Blueberry. My 2011 Ford Edge = Lullubelle (named after the tank in the Bogart movie "Sahara")
