Rearview mirror always dark
enigma-2 replied to BarryK3's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Went through the exact same thing myself. Welcome to the club. Be warned, next week we are going to test you on Sync commands. Closed book! -
They reported something similar to this in the Explorer forum and it was traced to the 120 volt inverter. There's a TSB out on it. MC-10140282-9999.pdf

Try your other key to isolate if the key is no longer recognized by the system. Other than that, it could be several items. You may have to take the instrument cluster apart again and check all connections like bucketheadisgod2 suggested. (Where in the hell did you come up with this name, grin). Unfortunately the system cannot be diagnosed by anyone other than the dealer (protective measure).

Almost sounds like a defective ignition switch.

Rearview mirror always dark
enigma-2 replied to BarryK3's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Test it. Put your finger over the sensor (in the plastic opening under the glass). If this sensor is blocked, the mirror thinks all's dark and will turn light. (I used this method to verify my mirror is working). -

Aftermarket hitch and drilling

Not sure. Why not give them a call and ask? 800-298-1624 -
Was at local dealer today, only had 2020's in stock. Having major problems getting 2021 Nautilus. (Did have a 2021 Mustang on the floor. Think it was called "Puke Orange". Oh my lord what a ugly car. Ugly, ugly, ugly). Production started in March, way behind schedule. Anyway, still no Nautilus, .... but willing to "take my name and call me when one comes in".

IK, had the new Pirelli Scorpion Verde's put on today and my initial assessment is 10 out of 10! Quieter and much smoother than the Bridgestone's. Granted the Bridgestone's had 10k on them but they were never this quiet or smooth as these Pirelli's. (I'd give the Bridgestone's an 8.5 out of 10). But there's no question the Pirelli is better. They matched TireRack price, $70 rebate, used Ford Card so I have one year to pay with no interest, also had new pressure senders installed, road hazard warranty ($125 for 4 vs. $200 for one tire and these 20" tires, just scrape a curb and the sidewall blows out - experience talking), and a four-wheel alignment. Also had the tire glued on with rim sealer. (Sick of slow leaks). Anyway, yes, I strongly recommend the Pirelli Scorpion Verde's. Excellent tire if you like a quiet, smooth ride.

Yea, I think it has to do with whether the switch is active or not, not what happens afterwards. If memory serves, it's the left button ln the steering wheel and you thumb down to settings, vehicle and liftgate, on/off (i think). Easy enough to check and eliminate this possibility.

As you seem to have addressed everything, I'll offer a wierd suggestion. Reset the KAM.

Aftermarket hitch and drilling
enigma-2 replied to thesavo's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
No drilling required https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Ford/Edge/2014/75728.html?VehicleID=2014307578 -
Any possibility that the liftgate has been turned off? When off, it will not work with the external switch, but will still open with the FOB.

Material Dow Urethane Adhesive Betaseal™ Express Dow Urethane One Step Glass Primer Betaprime™ 5500 / 5500A / 5500SA Sika Urethane Adhesive Sika Tack ASAP Sika Urethane Metal and Glass Primer Sika 206 G+P Removal Position the roof opening sliding glass panel to the fully OPEN position. Remove the antenna. For additional information, refer to Section 415-00 . NOTE: A new roof opening panel front trim seal is supplied with the new front trim panel. Remove the roof opening panel front trim seal. WARNING: Always wear eye protection when servicing a vehicle. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury. WARNING: Wear protective gloves when handling components or parts that have pointed or sharp edges. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury. NOTICE: Make sure the cutting blades are changed where the cutting depth changes to avoid damage to the body, trim panels or windshield moulding. NOTE: Lubricate the urethane adhesive with water to aid the Deluxe Windshield Removal Tool when cutting the urethane adhesive. When using the Deluxe Windshield Removal Tool, place the flat side of the knife against the front trim panel. Refer to the urethane adhesive path illustration and begin cutting at the center of the front trim panel and work through towards the opposite corners. Rotate the trim panel up and forward to clear the side trim panel. Cut off or bend the 2 steel alignment tabs if necessary. Remove the front trim panel assembly and discard. Installation NOTE: For additional urethane adhesive guidelines, refer to the manufacturer's installation information. 1. NOTE: Avoid scratching the painted surfaces. For minor scratches or exposed metal, see the manufacturer's recommendations. Using an appropriate tool, trim the urethane adhesive and pads leaving no more than 0.5 mm (0.01 in) base of original equipment urethane along the roof opening module surface. 2. NOTE: Make sure the water channel is free from any foreign material. Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the roof opening panel module. Clean residual adhesive tape from the housing using a suitable cleaner. 3. NOTICE: Be sure to use the same brand of cure-rate products for the urethane adhesive and primer. Do not mix different brands of urethane adhesive and primer. Incompatible products can result in seal failure. For additional information, refer to the Material chart in this procedure. Cut the urethane adhesive applicator tip to the specification. 4. NOTE: Use either the Air Caulking Gun or a high-ratio, electric or battery-operated caulk gun that will apply the urethane adhesive with less effort and a continuous bead. Apply urethane adhesive on top of the existing trimmed urethane adhesive bead, making sure there are no gaps in the bead. 5. NOTICE: When installing urethane adhesive-installed parts, the vehicle must not be driven until the urethane adhesive has cured. Adequate cure time is specified on the drive away chart for each urethane adhesive product as the temperatures and humidity vary. Inadequate or incorrect curing can adversely affect the retention of the trim panel. NOTICE: Make sure the windshield moulding does not get pinched under the front trim panel. The windshield moulding should be pulled over the top of the leading edge of the trim panel during installation. NOTE: Position front trim panel to best overall appearance. Apply the front trim panel assembly to the roof module. Work the trim panel down using only vertical pressure. Install the antenna. For additional information, refer to Section 415-00 . -
My local dealer still doesn’t have any. I'll be in there tomorrow (new tires), I'll ask when.

Do you want to feel like a magician? If you’re too far from your car for your key fob to work, try using your head as a personal satellite. Yes, really. Your body’s fluids can extend the wireless signal from your key fob to the parked car. Just put your car key fob under your chin, open your mouth, and push the button on your keychain.

The brake warning indicator alerts if any of the following brake system conditions are present (1) parking brake is set (2) brake fluid level is low (3) the ABS module detects a Electronic Brake Distribution failure. As you had already checked the break fluid level, the next reasonable guess is either the parking break is not quite off or the ABS system is having a fit. (Should the instrument cluster loose communication with the ABS module the instrument cluster turns on the brake warning indicator). The first thing to try is to pull the codes which will pinpoint which circuit the fault is coming from.

Have you ever ran some Techron through your system? Could be a misfiring fuel injector.

I could be mistaken because i really don't have any backup information, but I remember reading some time ago that the Sirius module's ESN needs to be programmed into APIU for it to recognize it.
