  1. I actually had this exact issue on my '10 Focus when I still had it, it was indeed a failing brake light switch. Easy and cheap to replace.
  2. Sorry to bring back such an old thread, but does anyone still have this a copy of this somewhere? I've never been able to find another copy, and the one here downloads a blank/invalid file. It's my only car I don't have one for! Thanks.
  3. There are plenty of aftermarket solutions - even Ford offers a kit (CL8Z-13E700-AA), but I'm not sure how good theirs is (and I believe you have to stick a button somewhere that will act like your 2010 did). If you want to make it identical to OEM, you're going to be replacing a lot of wiring harnesses or at least running a lot of wire. Otherwise, some of the non-Ford aftermarket kits can be pretty nice. I do agree on how much I like it tho. Our 19 SEL doesn't have it and it's our first Ford to not have it since 2009. Feels weird to be in a dark car at night, especially since I don't really drive our '19 much.
  4. So are you using SYNC 3 that was retrofitted, or MyFord Touch? If you retrofitted SYNC 3 and are trying to update that, you can't reinstall the same version yourself - can only upgrade or else it'll give you the error message you saw. Not sure about MFT, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did the same thing. Why do you need to reinstall?
  5. They always have all of the free item coupons as well. On the item-specific coupons, it even tells you if you'd save more using the item coupon or a 20% off coupon. Great website right there.
  6. Not sure of any plans of an official update, but yes if you have the correct files it will upgrade and work oerfectly fine. Our '19 Edge, a well as my '14 Edge and '17 Fusion are all running v3.4 without issue for a few weeks now. (My Fusion was given an upgraded gen4 APIM and my '14 Edge's SYNC3 gen3 APIM was formatted to take v3.2+)
  7. With a little searching you can usually find cheap OEM wheels that people sell because they don't like them. For your generation Edge you can look at some Escape & Fusion wheels if you want to keep it OEM. The 21's are also very wide no matter what you do, which isn't great for snow. For my '14 Sport, I got a brand new set of Explorer Police Interceptor wheels and Continental WinterContact tires for the same price as it'd cost to put winter tires on my 22's (not even accounting for mounting and balancing tires twice per year if I did that). If cost is a concern, I'm in lower New England, and on my past '10 Focus I had my set of winter wheels/tires last for several years since I only ran them for a few months per year. But I never even wore them down completely, the car was sold and I sold the tires separately.
  8. Personally I wouldn't call a coolant drain & fill a "band-aid solution", it's just regular maintenance. Yes it's a poor design & location for the water pump, but a coolant change should still regularly be done on any car (along with other fluids).
  9. You can turn off the elecric lift gate under the vehicle settings in the instrument cluster. Or you can probably have the dealer or someone who knows cars disconnect the sensor, it's behind the rear bumper. Even if the hatch comes down on you, it won't do much harm as it will bounce back if it detects pressure. I understand not wanting it to hit your mother especially, but just know it's not going to hurt anyone at least.
  10. Does your Edge have auto-dimming, heated mirrors, and BLIS? Could be for one of those features and the glass just doesn't have the connector if yours doesn't have that option.
  11. Since you're OK with going down to 19" wheels, the current generations of cars below use the same bolt pattern: - Fusion (Sport, Titanium, Platinum) - Focus RS (2 styles) (many owners sell brand new take-off sets as they get aftermarket wheels at a reasonable price) - Escape - - 19" snowflake rims didn't clear my Fusion Sport's front brakes, not sure how different your front calipers are but I'd bet this set won't fit yours as well - - 19" black Appaearnce Package rims fit on my Fusion Sport fine, you should be OK with these - Lincoln MKC, MKX, has both 19" and 20" - Lincoln MKZ - Lincoln Continental
  12. Keep bugging the dealer. I had the heads replaced in my '17 Fusion Sport for the issue some early 2.7's had with bad head castings. Especially since you have the smoke, I'd bet money you need new heads. A few of the Fusion owners (thankfully not me) needed new engines entirely as the heads affected other components. I'd flash the stock tune for a while and go back to the dealer in hopes they don't care since this is a known issues. Hopefully you fall in the build date, too. If not, google "Ford 2.7L TSB" with "oil consumption" or "white smoke", I know there's a couple TSBs out there for this with different build date ranges, and F-150's got their own TSB too. ---------------- TSB 17-2235 - 2.7L/3.0L ā€“ Oil Consumption With DTC P0524 And/Or P06DD, Rough Idle, Misfire And/Or White Or Blue Exhaust Smoke ā€“ Built On 1-Apr-2016 And Through 1-Jan-2017 Some 2016-2017 Edge/MKX, 2017 Continental, and 2017 Fusion/MKZ vehicles equipped with a 2.7L or 3.0L gasoline turbocharged direct injection (GTDI) engine and built on 1-Apr-2016 and through 1-Jan-2017 may exhibit white or blue smoke from the exhaust, rough idle in neutral or park at normal operating temperature or after a hot restart. The vehicle may also exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306 and/or P0316, P0524 and/or P06DD with excessive oil consumption. Oil consumption may be 1 Liter (1 quart) in less than 4,800 km (3,000 miles)
  13. Now's a great time to swap the lugs out before they get worse. My '17 Fusion Sport's lugs were swollen (all except 3) a few months ago and I've only got 20k miles on the car, so just a couple tire rotations (by me, with just a breaker bar & torque wrench at 150 ft-lbs). When you install the Gorilla's, just check them after installing and driving for a bit - I've seen 2 members on 2GFusions where they used Gorilla lugs and the seat wasn't angled exactly right so it ate up all of the wheels on those 2 guys' cars (was several years ago now, but still - apparently they denied the issue on both cases). Personally, I use McGard lugs and love them - worth the money.
  14. Check out tascaparts.com, they have pretty good diagrams from Ford and you can search by part category after entering your vehicle/trim level. Also much cheaper than the dealer, but are all OEM parts (as Tasca owns dealers in New England as well).
  15. The first gen Edge's rear window seems a lot closer to the standard MK2 Edge than the MK2 Chinese Edge, tho. Although the MK2 is definitely sloped more, I think the styling just appears to make it look more angled than it is (imo).
  16. It's definitely cheaper to do everything yourself. I swapped my '14 for a total of about $550. Nowadays, APIM and display prices have going up a tad - scrap yards definitely see the demand of these things. The USB hub and GPS antenna are only about $40 and $15. Regardless, even a unit on the high-priced side will be way cheaper than 4DTech tries to charge, even if you include the cost of someone else programming it for you if that's necessary. My biggest recommendation is to read and do research. Start by reading the "How-To" or intro threads on this kind of swap (that includes threads on other Ford model forums). Once you read the basics, skim the rest of those threads - they can be long, but you'll see issues people have had and how to avoid or fix them (like get a good quality GPS antenna - some knock-off models have been found to not work). And if you really can't find an answer after searching, people usually will have an answer if you ask nicely. Most issues have been sorted out by others at this point. Good luck!! P.S. At least on the Fusion forums, nearly everyone who uses those cool-looking Tesla-style or Android head units has taken them out of their car after a year or so as they are just a pain and low quality. I'd never recommend one, personally.
  17. Are you sure the camber is actually off that bad? The bottom of the body our gen curves in and makes it look like theres a lot of negative camber when there really isnt. Mine appears the same, but actually the wheels are fine (plus it depends on the angle you look from). How does yours look compared to the front wheels? The front actually should have another -0.10 degrees of camber when compared to the rear.
  18. A 2019 ST in the US/Canada can definitely (and fairly easilly if you have the right tools) be swapped to the European Edge's (and past/current Lincoln) instrument cluster. Many people on the Fusion forums (me included) have installed the Mondeo/Lincoln MKZ cluster in our North American Fusions (back to the 2013 model years). You'd need a compatible cluster first (usually get one from the same platform - we've seen issues using a Lincoln MKC cluster on a Fusion as the eletronics are different) The lens/mask part of the cluster has to fit your dashboard (can import one from Europe if needed). This can be detached from the instrument cluster itself. It needs to have Ford firmware on it (Lincoln's use a different strategy). Using the European Edge firmware would work. Then it needs to have your vehicle's AsBuilt data applied (your specific car's settings and features). Then of course, the mileage needs to be corrected (increasing the mileage is easiest - so try to find one that's new or that has lower miles than you do to save some time & money). Here's a fantastic thread and how-to on this topic if you're really interested. It's for 2nd gen Fusions, but the current gen Edge is nearly identical.
  19. The 2017 Edge's have a different transmission and a different 2.0L engine tho. That sounds more like a separate issue than the 8-speed trans issue here, in my opinion.
  20. What year Edge? Did you check the cabin air filter to see if it's clogged or super dirty?
  21. I've been using McGard lugs on my '17 Fusion Sport since I got it late 2016, and they've been great (also had them on my now gone 2010 Focus for 4 years without issue). For the exact reason you are concerned about, I've always used the "Bulge Cone Seat" style, rather than the plain "Cone Seat" style you posted. These are their "Bulge" style:
  22. I tried Sylvania ZXE's in my '14 Sport, and it was a bit of an improvement, but I still couldn't see well on the side of the roads. (They were always a great improvement in other cars for me tho, so I still recommend them if you only want to use Halogens). They don't last as long - I do a lot of night driving and usually get 2 years out of them - but the upgrade is wort it to me. I ended up installing a Morimoto HID kit from TheRetrofitSource. The cutoff is perfect, no more glare than standard Halogens, and I have never gotten flashed in the year I've had them. Couldn't be happier.
  23. Any of the part numbers in that Google Doc work... Any APIM running SYNC 3 will work, in fact. Just pay attention to if they have Navigation or not (if you care about that). If you get a screen too, that is when you pay attention to the vehicle it came from. We can use (without modification) a screen from: Edge (2016+) Explorer (2016+) F-250 (2017+) F-350 (2017+) Flex (2016+) Taurus (2016+) Also, FYI eBay might be easier than dealing with salvage yards over the phone.
  24. The tail lights that are solid red are on the SE & SEL, and the Titanium & Sport trim levels get the light bar with amber turn signals. SYNC 3 is a lot faster to use than MyFord Touch. Obviously, it's personal taste if you like it or not, but just using Google Maps (or Apple Maps) makes it worth it to me. I've got SYNC3 in my '17 Fusion Sport and our '16 Escape, and I'm about to upgrade my new-to-me '14 Edge Sport because it's something I'd really get a lot of use out of. If you can, may as well go for it. Moonroof is optional on all trim levels. Remember 2015 is the first year of the Gen2's - if you want to stay away from first model years just keep that in mind. If it's a 2015 to early-build 2017 Sport just make sure the engine is good with no smoke, oil consumption, or rough idle. Currently awaiting new cylinder heads (for my Fusion) for the 2.7 EcoBoost head issues (it's a 1-in-3 chance, so just look it over & look at service history if you can)...
