  1. Thanks! Got the TB cleaned, replaced all the plugs and put all new coil packs in the rear. Gonna drive it for a while and see if the "under load" miss is gone before replacing the front packs. At 75,000 miles all the plugs looked good but the gap was about .70 on all of them. Was kinda surprised how much torque it took to get the plugs out and the Coil pack electrical connection clips are definitely delicate. Had to get fancy with a couple zip ties after damaging one of them.
  2. Pulled the intake tonight on the old 2008 3.5 cuz I'm doing the Coil Packs and plugs tomorrow. Throttle body looks a little dirty so I better give it a cleaning. I really want to pull it but I didn't bring a new gasket up to the cabin with me where I'm doing this job. Anyone know if the TB gasket is reusable???
  3. Done my research and thinking about ordering this Motorcraft Coil Pack kit for my 08 3.5 Taurus (77,000). Not sure if this kit has the right plugs and UI gaskets for the Taurus but I know the coil packs are the right ones and they'll also work in my 2011 Edge. $150.00 seems like a heck of a deal for 6 coil packs, 6 plugs and the gaskets. Anyone order this kit for their 3.5 Edge???? Pretty sure the Taurus only has one bad pack but instead of trying to find it I'll just replace all of them. :) https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-kit-ba5z12259a
  4. If it won't "develop much power" it's probably in limp mode. Just disconnect the battery for a while. My 08 Taurus, which I believe has the same trans as your Edge, has bad trans speed sensors and will go into limp mode once in a while. Of course, none of this has anything to do with your stalling problem.
  5. It's actually humorous to see all the Fords on the road with peeling front emblems. Great way to advertise your brand!!!!!!!:)
  6. Pretty amazing how many miles you're getting out of the Edges!!! My 2011 just hit 100,000 and I'm thinking about keeping it cuz it's in beautiful condition and I still enjoy driving it. Only things I've done so far are brakes, brake booster (warranty), throttle body (warranty), sway bar links and battery. The only other other option that interests me is dumping around 34,000 on a low mile Lincoln MKX but that doesn't seem very smart at the moment .
  7. This may sound crazy but my rear defroster stopped working when my battery was getting weak in my 2011. Maybe it's some kind of protection that prevents using high drain accessories when the battery gets weak.
  8. I think I remember killing my parents lawn a few times with coolant so it'll probably make a great Round-up replacement!!!!:)
  9. I know that the first and second Gen Edges tend to leave the bolt cover for the rear wiper at drive through car washes.
  10. Thanks W!!! I picked up my YK580's the same time you did and just put on a set of the Continental LX 20's about a month ago. Discount Tire credited me $50.00 per tire due to premature wear and cracking on the YK580's!!!! I ended up getting the LX 20's out the door for $250.00 after all the 4th of July rebates!! The deal was even better then what we paid for our YK580's. Glad to hear you're happy with the Continentals so far cuz I'm just getting started with them. The only difference I can notice this early is that the ride is a little softer and quieter. I'm running mine at 32psi.
  11. The compressor cycling on and off could be a separate issue. If I remember correctly, it happens when the R134 level is either to high or to low. I recently overfilled my Taurus and she just blew warm air and the compressor was going crazy.
  12. It's the luck of the draw with cheap Chinese kits but a beefy waterproof harness may help out. My $45.00 35/5000 kit has been going strong for over 6 years. I would talk to Dan about sending the bulbs and ballasts back and starting fresh.
  13. Really good question!!! I rewired the center console power point to a fuse which turns on and off with the ignition. I wasn't worried about battery drain but it's the only way to get a phone to automatically connect to the Kinivo every time the ignition is turned on. Running a switched wire to the power point is pretty easy. My Android phone is the only source of music I listen to so I always keep the radio on auxiliary. If you decide to go this route I highly recommend the Kinivo cuz I've tried almost all the others out there. They all stream just fine but call quality is what I was after. https://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17502-which-fuse-for-switchable-power-2013-ford-edge/page-2?hl=%2Bpower+%2Bpoint&do=findComment&comment=175179
  14. I can't answer any of your questions but can tell you what I did to my syncless 2011 SEL to add Bluetooth calling and streaming ability. I picked up a Kinivo BTC 450 for both my Edge and my 2008 Taurus. The Kinivo's are amazing and actually sound better then a lot of factory systems. I used a Kinivo in my 2014 Lincoln MKX for calls because it sounded so much better then Lincoln's sync system. https://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60 I have it mounted down by my 2011's shifter.
  15. Could have also been one of those getaway grocery carts that we all hate.:)
  16. Kinda sad how we don't come together and support our president these days. Republicans didn't support Obama and Democrats don't support Trump. The media seems to encourage this ridiculous behavior. It's amazing how many Americans actually hated Obama with a passion and how many now hate Trump with a passion.
  17. Now that's cool lookin!!!!! You're bringing back two-tone with style!!!:)
  18. Let me know if you come up with a solution cuz I snapped mine off too while rewiring the power point. Like yours, mine still lights up but it's just hanging in there somewhere.

    Laptops

If ya don't really need Windows for anything, I would highly recommend doing some research on Chromebooks with the Android Playstore. I switched to Chromebooks just over 5 years ago and never looked back. I was really surprised how quickly I started reaching for that cheap Chromebook instead of my Windows laptop and it soon became my main computing device. I still have a few Windows lappys laying around but only turn them on a few times a year to keep up on those ridiculously long updates. I really like the security and zero maintenance that Chromebooks bring to the table.
  20. Even with perfect prep 845 never lasts as long for me as Zaino Z2 Pro or Duragloss 111/601 combo. I've done the half and half test quite a few times on the hoods of various vehicles and always get the same results. I know a lot of people put 845 over a good synthetic sealant but I've never tried that. 845 has a cult like following on detail forums but it just hasn't been that great for me. Living in Michigan causes me to wash my vehicles a lot which could very well be the difference maker. Maybe pure sealants hold up to frequent car washes better then Collinite.
  21. Thanks but I think it was a different thread. When I get a chance I'm gonna pull it and see if there's anything I can do to lift it up a little.
  22. 2011 SEL. I remember reading about this before but can't find any threads. The rear spoiler is sagging on the passenger side and I'm thinking about trying to fix it. Anyone remember what causes this and how to repair it?????
  23. This will make the biggest difference short of purchasing a different vehicle. I don't even think it's a big deal running them at 30-31. I think my 2011 SEL rides kinda stiff on 18's at 31 psi but I'm getting pretty old.
  24. So far the Continental Cross Contact LX-20's (245/60/R18) seem pretty good. They're really good looking, quite and ride just fine. They have a cool protruding lip around the rim that should do a pretty good job protecting expensive wheels from road rash. 35 psi always seems to wear out the crown prematurely on Edge's and MKX's so I'm gonna run these at 31 psi. I tried to keep the Yoko YK580's around 33 psi and they still had some serious crown wear at 40,000 miles. New skins always feel good so I'll try to keep some updates coming as the miles roll by. I'm in Michigan so I'll be using them in every road condition known to man.
  25. Getting them put on tomorrow and will post initial thoughts. I just about went with the new YK-HTX Yokos but ,after the wear and cracking of the Yoko YK580's at 40,000 miles , I decided to go with a different brand. I haven't messed with Continentals in many years but reviews of the LX-20's are pretty good. Been getting tires so cheap I guess I shouldn't complain about 40,000 mile life. It's kinda funny that I paid $284.00 for the set of YK580's 3 years ago and now they're giving me $200.00 in warranty money. :)
