Is the the C2 a RWD based platform? I was hoping they would develop the Edge as a 2-row version of the Explorer (like the Honda Passport-Pilot). Would make a great "ST" version. I think the Mondeo (Euro Fusion) is still going to be produced, maybe the Edge will share its platform?

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
omar302 replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Got a low key battery warning message. Replaced the Fob battery. Not a big issue, just glad Ford implemented the "Key low battery" warning message. Didn't get that in previous Ford vehicles. -
Following that TSB is very funny (& concerning). 6 Simple steps, except if step 6 is applicable, the solution is to just "remove the engine and replace the long block"!!!

2017 Edge Sport 2.7 & 2017 Lincoln MKZ 3.0 - swap engines?
omar302 replied to snmjim's topic in 2.7L EcoBoost
I remember reading that when it first came out (that it is aluminum vs. CGI), but the specification pages for the MKZ, Continental and Explorer ST show CGI for the 3.0! Interestingly, the Aviator block material is not mentioned. @Xtra: From the FusionSportForums, seems they had figured the bigger Turbos from the 3.0 are where the main power increase comes from. This post links a few threads on the topic if you'd like to read more. -
There is nothing on the manual regarding special procedures for removing the battery. Simply disconnect & remove. Reverse to install. If installing a new battery, reset the BMS. Nothing else. I heard of some other makes that require a special procedure when replacing the battery due to electronics, but not on the Edge. Also, the radio presets and memory seat positions are not lost in the Edge. At lease for me they aren't.

ForScan is currently only a Beta. You can get a 2 months license for free. Renewable for the time being. The license would enable a few more functions, namely changing As Built Data for Ford/Lincoln vehicles. There is no issues with the beta version as long as you be careful of what your doing and always backup. If you are interested in more info, you should go through there website & forums. Also this post on the Fusion forums has good info: http://www.2gfusions.net/showthread.php?tid=4573

DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 12, 2020 – Ford Motor Company is issuing three safety recalls in North America. Safety recall for select 2015-18 Ford Edge and 2016-18 Lincoln MKX vehicles Affected vehicles have front brake jounce hoses that could rupture. A ruptured front brake jounce hose will cause a progressive brake fluid leak. If the brake fluid reservoir is depleted below a certain level, the brake fluid warning indicator light will illuminate. The driver may experience an increase in brake pedal travel, together with a reduction in the rate of deceleration, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is not aware of any reports of accident or injury related to this condition. This action affects 488,594 vehicles in the U.S. and federal territories, 62,876 in Canada and 7,140 in Mexico. Affected vehicles are as follows: 2015-18 Ford Edge vehicles built at Oakville Assembly Plant from June 25, 2014, to Dec. 21, 2017 and 2016-18 Lincoln MKX vehicles built there from Nov. 11, 2014, to Dec. 21, 2017 Dealers will replace the front brake jounce hoses with new hoses that have a revised braid material. The Ford reference number for this recall is 20S42. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2020/08/12/ford-motor-company-issues-three-safety-recalls-in-north-america.html

To reset the battery management system for the new battery, either a dealer can do it (or anyone with Ford's IDS) or using ForScan. It's a free application on the PC that needs a compatible adapter. Not sure if your adapter works with it or not. Check ForScan.org Regarding the outside temp display and the odd operation of the HVAC, try to disconnect the battery for a few minutes. Sometimes electronics need resetting to work correctly.

Can you swap a 2019-2021 ST bumper to a 2015-2018 Sport?
omar302 replied to AirJordan's topic in Exterior & Body
I believe the tow hook refers to the small screw-in eye hook that some vehicles have. Export Edges have bumpers with an access hole and cover for it. Like this: -
Can you swap a 2019-2021 ST bumper to a 2015-2018 Sport?
omar302 replied to AirJordan's topic in Exterior & Body
I found posts for two members cutting the existing bumper to install the factory hitch. To me it looks as factory looking as possible. I don't recall anyone trying a 2019+ bumper retrofit, but will involve a lot of parts. I know the liftgate changed. So did the left quarter panel and both rear splash shields. The right quarter panel has the same part number. I looked up those parts because they all connect to the bumper. -
Welcome & congrats on the new Edge.

I didn't know it was a MAP sensor instead of a MAF. Attached is the procedure for removing it. Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor.pdf

How is the ride in comparison to the stocks? Also, remember that this new size has a larger diameter, ~0.8". So your speed will be faster than indicated. Compared to stock size, at 60 mph, your actual speed will be about 61.6 mph.

Cooling fans running all time with AC
omar302 replied to Obeidat87's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Yes, I am in Qatar so I know the summer heat. It is normal for the 2011 to 2014 to be like that. Even in the morning it is above 32 C, right? I had a 2011 MKX (similar to the Edge) and it was like that. Take your Edge for a car wash were the outside temperature reading will become lower than 30 for a while after the wash and you'll hear fans turning at lower speeds. -
Cooling fans running all time with AC
omar302 replied to Obeidat87's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Where are you located? In the Middle East, the Edge will have its fans run on full speed if the A/C is on and the outside temperature is higher than a certain limit. I think it was 32 or 34 C. Or thereabouts. -
30-45 minutes. You can do update while driving, you just won't have access to the infotainment screen.

Airbag removal (adaptive steering model)
omar302 replied to papinist's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Sorry, can't help with the slits. Couldn't find where I had read it before. For the steering wheel recall, it was actually a satisfaction recall, only those built between June 25, 2014 and September 14, 2016. Also, the program seems to have had an expiry date on 29/02/2020. https://ford.oemdtc.com/4337/satisfaction-program-19b04-steering-wheel-replacement-2015-2016-ford-edge-2016-lincoln-mkx -
Airbag removal (adaptive steering model)
omar302 replied to papinist's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Sorry, I don't. All I have is for the 2015. Courtesy of https://www.mactgarage.com/. For the recall, there were two. Airbag & steering wheel. If the did the steering wheel recall after the airbag, which they should have, then the new steering wheel wouldn't have the slits because they are only required for removal. -
If it was a 2018 or 2019 Edge built on or before 1-Aug-2019, then it has has the old sealing method & TSB 19-2837 addresses that with a new oil pan equipped with a press in place gasket. Howerver, if it was a 2020 (or 2019 built after 01-Aug-1019), well.... (more insult?) Link: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10169894-0001.pdf

Airbag removal (adaptive steering model)
omar302 replied to papinist's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
You need to also remove the top steering column cover to expose the other torx screw. See the attache procedures. You don't need to remove the Airbag. For information, the 2016-2018 Edge Sport has an adaptive steering, so removing the Airbag is slightly different. The holes for removing the Airbag (same location) are covered. You would need to make slits to the steering wheel trim at the same location where they would be. You would know if it was removed or not earlier. I know this because my 2016 Sport first had the driver Airbag recall (replacement), so the dealer had to make the slits. Then I had the Adaptive Steering wheel recall (also replaced). So now the slits are gone. Good as new. You have a 2013, the MKX speedo upgrade refereed to in @TXFRDOwner & @onyxbfly posts wouldn't work (changing the Edge's speedo to the newer Lincoln style). I think there is a misunderstanding here. I believe your question is whether the right screen on your stock speedometer will still work after upgrading to Sync 3. In this case, yes, the screen will work with Sync 3.

2016 3.5 towing. Pls confirm for me...
omar302 replied to kone's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Without the factory tow package, the 3.5 Edge is rated to 2000 lbs. The rating will not change even if you put a class II hitch. Sway control is one part, but the tow package usually also has additional cooling capacity like an engine oil cooler.
