Your headlights suck
enigma-2 replied to foghelmut's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
A little over a year ago I remember reading some reports about this hotter bulb causing crazing and fogging on the inside of the housing. Wasn't an Edge or MKX, (forget which brand it was) but the thread had two or three reporting same problem. Never read anyone reporting this on an a Edge housing however. -
Found a video, not really your engine but it's for the noise. Does yours sound like this?

Kinda sounds like the timing chain developed slack and rattles on start up until the tensioners take the load. Think there is a TSB covering this.

Yes, new unit, installed by Ford dealer, and under current extended powertrain warranty. (I verified this). As far service, they offered to replace the fluid for $150 (he was thinking that they had to drop it and pour out the lubricant), I objected and got them down to $80 per change.

I know that you need to nearly completely refill the washer bottle to turn off the light. Don't think there's a reset, supposed to reset automatically when you refil. Also you can damage the sensor by using Rain-X washer fluid (or any fluid that beads up on the windshield). These fluids coat the two sensor elements and the sensor thinks the tank is perpetually low. (Have to pull the sensor and clean the tabs with Dawn Dishwashing soap).

Back in 2015 the service agent came to me during an oil change and told me they found the seal PTU was leaking. (Nothing on tbe garage floor, had no idea). I THOUGHT they said that they were going to replace the seal. Today however, we were looking over the car's service record (I was asking about replacing the fluid) and found they had actually replaced the PTU at 95k. As it was under the extended warranty, I never seen the bill. (That alone paid the cost of the warranty). Today they told me that they do not service the PTU (I remember them telling me at the time it would be just the seal and cost ~$400 with me paying the $100 deductible). So one more for extended warranties. The service agent also told me they did not recommend my scheduling a flush until it hits 30k miles. Said a waste of money as it's designed to go life (of original warranty). He said they use the differential machine to suck out the old fluid. (Lincoln extended warranty runs out in Dec 2020).

My dealer told me they cannot do the programming as the car did not ship with it. There are other ways however; the easiest is a $150 programming module (don't have the reference in front of my right now). As for a camera, any good camera will work, plan on spending $80 for a metal case and glass lens with decent dpi.

2009 Ford Edge Remote start
enigma-2 replied to Darcy433's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Could that be a mercury switch to trigger on a hood open event? Or perhaps the antenna? I don't know for certain, but perhaps the under hood switch only works with the engine start security system? -
I'm here at my local Lincoln dealer getting a piece of trim replaced, thought to ask the service manager about the difference between the AWD and the 4WD. He said the are the same (mostly), both have a PTU, but the only big difference is, the Intelligent 4WD has a switch to turn it off. It's mostly in software as to how it engages. The service rep spoke up and said he has an Escape and it can get a little "squirrelly" at times, not perfected yet.

I read in Car and Driver that the 2017 Escape 4WD can send 100% of the torque to either the front or rear axles. An AWD system can't do that of course. Here's a link to the issue, http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/refreshed-2017-ford-escape-first-drive-review

We're down to a single 36 lb. cat. When he rides in the car (in a carrier) you would think we're sawing his leg off. We only take him to the vet, but it's a real fun trip.

Most of the airbags are coming for other manufacturers. I expect mine to be replaced in late 2024 or early 2025. (snort).
-
There IS a slight difference however. The 4WD uses the same systems as the AWD but is designed for more rugged terrain. https://www.buyfordnow.com/feature/awd-intelligent-all-wheel-drive?gnav=t2-footer-features

This link from the Escape forum mau explain it better. http://www.fordescape.org/forum/engine-technical-discussion/7962-awd-4x4.html

Sync 3 Installed in a 2012 Limited

Possibly a malfunctioning injector. Head gasket would not be intermittent. Injector malfunction would run the cylinder cold, allowing oil to accumulate.

Sorry to hear this. Once the battery freezes its shot. As to why, are you running short trips in super cold weather? If so, it's possible that the battery had never fully recharged during each trip. May have to use a battery charger to continue to restore the charge. If the car does have a hidden power draw, here's one way to find it. You will need to put a VOM (volt-ohm-milliamp) meter between the + cable and battery + post. (In series). Set the meter to amperes (before you make the connection) and take a reading. It should only read a hundred milliamps or less. If you are seeing a higher draw, you may have parasitic draw. To figure out where it's coming from, start by pulling one fuse at a time and check the meter to see if the draw has stopped. When you find the circuit, you will need to check the schemitic to see where the circuit runs to. Then start by disconnecting each connection, starting at the end of the circuit. This will tell you where the fault lies in the circuit. It could be a discrete device or a short (look at the conductor surface for shorts).

My God man, did you this to poor Lulabelle? No wonder she gave out.
