2016 Edge Lift Gate Not Locking
enigma-2 replied to Maria's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Like omar302 was saying, this is normal behavior. When the fob is close to the car, the liftgate is unlocked. Close all doors & liftgate. Stand back and hit the lock button on the fob twice. Of you get one honk, everything is locked. Two beeps means something didn't lock. -
The "why they left this off" is simple. The corporate bean counters told engineering to cut $x off the product. This was an easy cut. No one is going to notice this on the showroom floor (if ever). They do this all production year long. Usually its a vendor change, but bigger savings just to drop an unneeded part.

It sounds like the wheel with the bad unit was moved to the rear left (and is still bad). If they put in a new unit, they probably used aftermarket. When I had new senders put in my MKX, I talked to the dealer about Motorcraft or aftermarket. They told me they have problems with around 10% failure with aftermarket (most often failing within a year). Could be the aftermarket unit isn't sending a strong enough signal. (?) I believe if one sensor fails, the entire relearn process fails. So the system may still "think" the bad sending unit is on drivers front (as it hasn't been retained from the rotation).

Also check your settings. It's possible to change the route servings to not consider certain roads, such as do not take freeways, and the like. If it's not even seeing the freeway on the map, try updating the maps in the car's navigation.

2016 Edge Lift Gate Not Locking
enigma-2 replied to Maria's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
If it's bouncing back open, its sending something blocking its closing completely. Look for anything around the seal that shouldn't be there. If it doesn't try to reopen, look for missing rubber pads. To troubleshoot the latch / switch, this should help: https://blog.1aauto.com/power-liftgate-problems/ -

Out of curiously, i checked Safelite site. Appears there are two different types of rear glass with antennas. One identified as "antenna", another identified as " diversified antenna". First costs ~$490, 2nd ~$597. (Heated glass without antenna goes for $476). The following discussion discusses what all is involved with, with this type of in-glass antenna. May be usefull (but written for Lincoln Town Car). https://www.fordforums.com/threads/where-is-the-diversity-antenna.125129/

2016 Edge Titanium Remote Start Inoperative
enigma-2 replied to SPROGG's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Have you tested the battery CCA rating? Loe voltage is a possible cause of a no start condition. -
Thanks for correcting me, Haz. Didn’t realize the Edge had a different setup than 150. Amazing how complicated they can transform a simple AM/FM antenna!

One other problem noted with aftermarket (especially Dorman) is the connector may need to be forced on, past the point where it seems seated. At least one person commented that his was loose and had to use a wire tie to secure the connector. Also aftermarket fan assemblies have been noted causing excessive vibration and/or noise. You can't go wrong with Motorcraft.

When the fuel pump failed, the rail depressurized. Try pressing the accelerator all the way to the floor and crank the engine for 3-4 seconds. Then do it again. Then try starting normally. This should repressurize the fuel rail. (FWIW, lack of fuel pressure should have thrown a code).

Check and make certain the small antenna mast is screwed in on the shark fin. It's about 6"-8" tall stick. (Classic symptoms). It's a dealer install and it's possible they forgot to do it. If it's missing, check to see if its still in the glovebox. If it's there, make certain its screwed in tight and no corrosion in connectiin socket.
-
Based on what you previously said, (and I'm only thinking outloud), any possibly you unplugged the fuel pump? Only other thing I can think of in the rear that would prevent a start is the fuel.pump shut off switch may be unplugged (the one that triggers in an accident).

Have you figured it out yet? If not, you need to check the codes to see what's being reported.

Horn not working 2012 SEL
enigma-2 replied to 12SEL's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
As the horn works when you wire to it directly, I'd put on a multimeter and check the voltage at the plug. Also look for corrosion in this plug. (Really sounds insufficient voltage getting to the horn). -
If you have serious concerns, why not running it through a local (good) mechanic for a road worthy inspection. The look of the car reveals nothing as to what condition the mechanical aspects are really in. A simple failed part can cause a multitude of problems when you least expect it. Tell the service rep that you are planning a long trip and want to be certain that its in good condition. (Ford dealers offer a multipoint inspection with their oil change and tire rotation. Ask for The Works. $40.)

Replacement Options for 21" Pirelli P-Zero Performance Tires
enigma-2 replied to roots57's topic in Wheels & Tires
TireRack reviews. (Remember they are reporting with only a couple thousand miles on them). https://www.tirerack.com/survey/SurveyComments.jsp?reload=true&tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Alenza+AS+Ultra&category=tire&sortBy=1&wantsDescending=true -
If your husband replaced the fan assembly with an aftermarket unit, it's been found that they are often wired wrong. (Rewiring has been discussed in the forum in the past).

I occasionally flip on the windshield defroster as it not only directs airflow onto the glass, it also runs the a/c. The refrigerant flow relubricants the seals. Most common place that leaks are the Schrader Valves (where the high and low hoses connect). One way to possibly tell is to remove the dust caps and see if you can see the residue of leaking refrigerant and oil. Valves are cheap and should be changed whenever the system needs service.
