  1. Shouldn't have any problems with Motorcraft. Besides the part and labor is on dealer as band was only a month old. What kept confusing me was, the thump, thump was loud at times, completely gone at other times. Definitely a tire but not a tire? ?
  2. At dealer today. Dealer diagnosed problem as related to tire. Pulled, put on balancer and still was in perfect balance. (Rules out missing weight, broken band, blister or inner damage). Tire good. Mechanic drove car and still had thump, thump, thump. Had service manager verify. Rotated tires and thump moved to passenger rear, so definitely tire. Pulled tire again and still balanced as perfect. Dealer broke down tire and voila! Turns out the band that holds the pressure sensor broke. Spot weld at clamp broke. Was spinning around separately from wheel at times, but synchronized when on balancer and sometimes when driving. (Explains no thump, thump after coming to stop. Also nothing at times until I hit a smooth section of road, but not on rough road). Turns out they had used NAPA band (only.on this wheel), knowing that I hate NAPA parts. Parts manager searched midwest for new Motorcraft band and found one (and one only) in southern Kentucky. Said getting parts is getting to be a real challenge. So that's one I wouldn't have guessed. They never had one break before, and they use NAPA all the time as most customers want cheap repairs. Gets fixed next week. Having them look a brakes as well so they'll get me a new Nautilus for the day. Plus a hand wash (standard for Lincoln service).
  3. Have you considered having your dealer check for any codes? Could be a sign of something serious.
  4. Is the lens itself dark or could the dark spot be the cuttoff shield out of place? Are you certain the bulbs are inserted properly and not catching on the cuttof shield? Are the bulbs as specified in the OM or did you get rambunctious with something "better"? (Read "bigger" or longer).
  5. They look great. Did you do it or did you have it done?
  6. Rereading the posts, you mentioned you put on tires not recommended (wider than specified). I wonder if the Roll Stability Control which is incorporated in the AdvanceTrac may sense an inbalance (due to the new tires) and is trying to compensate. Did you notice the roll with the old tires?
  7. I don't think it will show up on the sync screen until you start the scan from the phone. Sync is looking but until the cell phone starts sending that it's available, sync will never see it. But as you had it synced on a previous phone and lost it, sounds like the APIM is malfunctioning. When you lost the connection on the previous phone, were you doing anything or did it just drop?
  8. OK, quiet down everyone. Creberus is going to tell us how he knows. Its killing him no one has asked so far and he's dying to tell us. OK, Creberus, you have the floor. "Just how big is it"? .... .... No, no, no wait. That should have been, "how do you know"? (It's ok, I have an excuse. Its a warm, sunny day and I'm visiting Margaritaville.)
  9. My 09 MKX has the factory towing package and the factory connector is located under the rear bumper (visible from behind).
  10. Blend door actuator. Might be able to reset the module with the following procedure: Press and hold the climate control power button and the defrost button at the same time. Wait until the system turns off and then release both buttons. After that is done press the climate control power button again to start it up and the system should be reset.
  11. OK, took the car in to Ford today. The mechanic, Todd, took it for a drive and noticed the thump, thump, thump. After two hours (of which I walked around the empty showroom, also known as "the land of the living dead") and finally out to the service desk to learn what they found. Todd checked the tires and couldn't find any problems. No nails, broken tread, loose wheel nuts, etc. No steering parts worn. Only thing he found is my brakes were pulsating. So he decided to rotate the tires andask me to drive it over the weekend to see if the problem changed. No charge. Started to drive home and noticed that it was exactly the same. Coming from drivers front. Went back and this is really a puzzle. Seems to be tire related. Should have changed to passenger rear. So I made another appointment for Tuesday. Went back to the car to drive home and ••hold on•• last month I had replaced an OEM wheel that was slightly bent (curb in drugstore parking lot) with a new one. They left the little green sticker on it. So I did too. (Have I ever mentioned that I'm lazy)? And low and behold, there was the little green sticker, on the same wheel they replaced. The idiot never rotated the tires. (Evil Grin). Back in the service area, "uhhh Chad"? (Using my best "Montreal Burns" voice from The Simpsons)? Got the deer in the headlights look, followed by a "ohhhhhhhhhhh shit". Then as best as I can describe it, a murderous look towards the service bay. So I said that we can look at it on Tuesday and "oh by the way, believe I won't wait, please have a loaner for me". "Like a new Lincoln, if its available. He fell over backwards agreeing. And so it continues......
  12. YouTube video describing all engine sensors, purpose and operation. (There's always one that escapes understanding...)
  13. Have you looked for worn: Tie rod ends? Ball joints? Control arm bushings? (Worn ball joints will track with every groove, run or dip in the asphalt.) Something is loose and sounds serious. One good pot hole and ooooohhhhhhh sssshhhhiiiiittttt. Waldo mentioned bad alignment. This usually shows up as bad tire wear. Are your tires wearing evenly?
  14. Just checked after reading your post and 10 is the latest avaliable for mine. Thanks for posting.
  15. Well, not all. The guy in the video (where I got the idea) is a professional detailer. (Dallas Paint Correction and Detailing.) I follow this guy, great tips. He uses it for spraying down the engine compartment as it doesn't use high pressure (which could drive water into the wrong places) and thst you can use distilled or soft water instead if hose water.
  16. Have an appointment on Friday. New tires (<1500 miles). Consistent thimp, thump starting at ~40 mph. Gets louder as speed goes up. No vibration any longer, but definitely drivers front area. Gets very loud. Can't see any problem with tire, but visual only.
  17. MacTFordEdge did a video on this (gen 1). May help.
  18. One possible solution, if it happens ever once in a while, your SIRUS radio may upgrading the programming listing (does this once or twice a week). You'll have the condition you described until the update has finished downloading and installing. (A few minutes). And yes, if you turn it up when the audio is blanked, it will be blasting when the audio comes back on. Easy enough to verify, next time it happens, check the bottom of the screen display, should say something like "upgrading" or similar.
  19. Battery life is fairly good (Lithium) around 15 minutes. Check out comments on Amazon first, its pressure doesn't come close to an electric or gas washer. Good for engine bay, convenient. But pressure is much lower. I've also used it to spray down my garden tractor. Being battery, just slap in the battery, grab a bucket of water (use soft water from house), spray with cleaner and brush, then spray off. Like I said, convenient. Here's the video where I found it
  20. Gas pressure washers are fine, just remember to use a 40° tip on the car. I've used a 25° tip on wheels without problems. This is what I have used for car and engine bay: WORX WG625 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P8JZDXC/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_G1T7R0M3CFDMNSR97R65?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Can use distilled or solf water for rinsing (huge difference when drying - no streaks). Also has former and soft brush for washing. Works great. Easy to hook up (just snap in a battery) drop the line in a bucket of soap to wash or soft water to rinse. No hose or extension cords.
  21. Try this. Car running, doors closed. On SYNC, tap add new device. On PHONE, goto settings icon (gear), tap CONNECTIONS, tap BLUETOOTH, and at top of screen, tap SCAN. Does SYNC show up? Not important, but does your phone connect to your laptop (if you have one).
