  1. Two tires had slow leak so I had them pull the tires, sand the rims and glue them back on. Still had a slow leak on drivers rear (about 2 psi/ day). So I bought new tires (wanted quieter and smoother tires and used this to justify the cost). Made certain they used stop leak (glued them on). Still had a slow leak on drivers rear. (Smile). So it has to be the wheel (20", first gen chrome). I hit a curb, (hey, who in the hell though it was a good idea to put a curb in the middle of a parking lot? (Nice thing is I called Lincoln and they sent a tow truck out to change my tire. In the pouring rain. No charge. 2009 MKX). So the dealer quoted me $700. (Of course that's an opening quote). Got them down to $350. So I ordered a new one and waited a week. After the had the wheel off and the tire demounted, did they notice that they ordered an 18" rim. (Again, I have 20" rims. Service manager ran my VIN and factory was 18".) Never thought to check the car. (Smile). Waited two more weeks (not a big demand for the ol 20", 7-spoke chrome clad wheels. Special order). So it came in last week and I ran down at 4pm. Zing, bank pop, and u have a new wheel. No more slow leak. Not so fast. I'm dealing with a Ford/Lincoln dealer. (Heh) So coming out of the dentist office yesterday, I noticed a small yellow label on my drivers front wheel. Ummmm says I, what be this? Ahhhh it's my new wheel of course, they forgot to take the stick .... wait ..... they were supposed to replace the drivers rear, not the front. Uhhhhhhhhhhhh (Smile). Hello? Ford service? Remember me (they do of course, were on a first name basis.) So I tell the service manager and he faints. Gets up off the floor and says he'll call me back. He had to go back and search for the wheel they took off (otherwise he'll eat another $700 wheel). 10 minutes later and he found it. Phew. (Dug it out if the trash most likely). Can you come in immediately and we'll change it. Yup. But you're gonna have to eat the labor and cost of a new tire pressure strap. "Yup, no cost to you." (Smile). So I take it in and am sitting in the waiting room. Another guy brought his Escape for poor performance. About a half hour later the service manager came in and told him the found the problem. His Mass Air Flow sensor is "not sending the right information. We have one in stock. Should be around $400 installed. Sound ok"? Guy says "ahhh yea, absolutely, is that all it is". "Yup". And the service manager left. I had to admire the service manager for his technique. Smooth and the customer was happy as hell they found the problem. So I bit my tounge and waited patiently for my new wheel. (Smile).

That sounded expensive. Hopefully they found it.
  4. Have you checked to see that the other end of the harness is still in place? If its out of place, it may reading the glove box as still being closed.

  6. Make certain you get all the gold out (doesn't play well with others). You may also need to change the water pump inlet tube (if car built before certain date). See atrached: 2009 MKX Cooling System Corrosion.pdf
  7. You will need to read the codes to pin down where to start. Failures run the gauntlet from a failing Image Processing Module, to corroded connector, camera or frayed wires.
  8. Displaying the Factory-Set Code: Note:You need to have two programmed intelligent access keys for this procedure. 1. Open the floor console storage compartment lid. 2. With the buttons facing the rear of your vehicle and the key ring up, place the first intelligent access key into the backup slot inside the center console. 3. Press the START/STOP button once and wait a few seconds. 4. Press the START/STOP button again and remove the key. 5. Insert the second programmed key into the backup slot, then press the START/STOP button. The factory-set code appears in the information display for a few seconds. Note:The code may not display until after any other warning messages first display.
  9. I think Ford uses a type TA-14-A Trim and Weatherstrip Adhesive to hold weatherstripping to metal body panels. (Described as "quick drying and very strong").
  10. I'm running Pirelli Scorpion and love them. Quiet and smooth. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074Y4F7QY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_S26679KT9SSJFJHZXCMA

  12. So, what exactly is wrong with using Motorcraft?

  14. Believe it's available on the ST and not on the ST-LINE. You can always check in to see if you have one by turning it on. "Carry out the following to activate or deactivate HD Radio: Drag down the top view and tap on Settings. Press Media and AM/FM Radio. Press HD Radio AM or HD Radio FM to activate/deactivate the function."

Think I'd suspect wheel bearing or brake problem.

Any possibility its the water pump or wheel bearing? Water pump or coolant fan will squeal at idle. Wheel bearing or CV joint only underway. May have to take it in and run while on hoist to isolate. Whatever it is, is going to get worst in time.
  17. Probably a bad ACM but might try a power reset. • Turn on and select the am or fm radio. • Hold the power button (think its the center of the volume control on yours). At the same time press the right seek button and hold both for 5 seconds. • When reset is triggered, display will say "resetting" then let go. Have you added anything to the car, such as LEDs? Cheap Chinese LED headlights have been traced to FM interference (sends out an EM hash in the FM intermittent frequency range).

  19. Mine was covered under extended warranty so it didn't cost me anything. Believe the service rep said it would have been a little over $1, 100 with parts, labor and taxes.

I think I know. I'll bet its your HVAC blower motor. My 09 MKX started that same sound, ignored it, went away, came back, went away, came back, went away. Always ignored it. Then it came back with vengeance. S.Q.U.E.E.KKKKKKK. Pulled the blower and motor combo (about two minutes) and shot some lub into the bearings. Been two years, still quiet.
  21. Found a copy of the TSB. Let us know if your dealer goes this way.
  22. Far as I know, this is your best choice for replacing the unit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/06-10-FORD-LINCOLN-MERCURY-AM-FM-6-CD-RADIO-WITH-SUBWOOFER-OPTION-6L2T-18C815-BK-/373577836887?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
  23. You have any idea how hard it is for chameleons to get together? "Wait! Where'd she go? She was right there on that branch a few seconds ago."
  24. Any indication on the old unit what was causing the problem? Corrosion on the connector? Gunk in the mechanism that a solvent or lubricant could have cleared?
  25. Wishful thinking but the reality is very different. You’re talking about millions and millions of acres. 193 million acres in fact. And who would pay the billions needed? Taxpayers? Care to guess how many people would be needed to "clear out the dead brush"? Also consider whats green today can be dead and dry in just a few days. There are actually more wild fires in the east. But the west has more open land and the fires there are more difficult to get to and furniture larger areas. Couple that with the winds (think Santa Ana) and its easy to see why the quickly get out of control. According to the Congressional Research Service, in the United States, there have been 1.5 million wild fires since 2000. And there have been 1126 wild fires (on average) between 2916 through 2020. Its just not an easy problem to solve. Impossible actually. That's why California has hundreds of people working on thd problem. Universities, state offices, local authorities and .... the list goes on.
