  1. Might look over this site. https://www.700r4transmissionhq.com/ford-edge-smells-like-gas/
  2. One possibility is the water pump has failed. There is a weap hole on the top, right (viewed from the drivers seat) of the engine. Should the inner water pump gasket fail (there's an inner and outer), the coolant is forced out through the weap hole so that it can be detected. 1. Check your oil. If it looks brownish and milkly, coolant is leaking into the oil sump and this will damage tbe bearings and journals. (Watered down, can't lubricate properly). Best to have the car towed to the dealer rather than subject the engine to more damage. 2. If the oil is ok, and you can see coolant leaking from the weap hole, the first set of gaskets have failed. Top off and drive to dealer (no high speed maneauvers). In either case the fix is to replace the water pump. (Quickly). Plan of costs running somewhere in the vicinity of $1600. Here's a video by MACTFORDEDGE describing where the weap hole is located.
  3. There's also a possibility that the problem concerns the wiring running to the coil. Connection may be corroded or burned.
  4. My dealer did mine this last summer. He uses a machine that pumps the old fluid out through a hose (also pumps in fresh) through the fill plug. Uses the same machine pump to change the PTU. The pump is a professional unit designed for these type of maintenance areas. Big hunkerer. They didn't say how much it costs, but looked expensive. On my 09 MKX the recommended change interval is at 105k miles (for DANA units). Also at 3k miles if trailer towing above 70° F with speeds above 45 mph and not using non-synthetic fluid. Personally I feel all fluids should be changed at least by ~100k miles.
  5. This video may help locate the actuator (not your car but close)
  6. I read that you can reset the standard system by removing the hvac fuse for a few seconds. (I also feel that this appears to a mode door actuator problem, not a blend door.) There are two control positions for tbe center vents. One is for the instrument panels vents and center consul vents. The 2nd position sends the air out of the instrument panel vents, center consul vents, floor vents and rear floor vents. (Obviously the more vents open, the less air through each).
  7. Looking at the Infotainment website, they are offering a headunit replacment thst fits 2011 through 2014. So yes, should be the same radio. But theres more involvef than a simple head unit replacment. You could contact them and ask. They sell complete upgrade kits, 4" to 8" with nav. Sync 2 sells for $1699, Sync 3 sells for $1899. But those prices cover everything needed to upgrade, modules, cables, completely plug and play. https://www.infotainment.com/collections/all/2012-ford-edge
  8. The interior lighting is controlled through the smart junction box in the 2009 and 2010. Don't think its changed in the 11. Does the sunvisors lights and door opener work?
  9. Dealer told me years ago that the blades that come with the car are special blades and not the ones you can buy from the dealership. He said (and this was years ago) that the blades Ford installed at the factory were Trico, top of the line. The Motorcraft replacments could be anything as they spec'ed and contracted with several blade mfgrs. (He got this from his area rep). As for me, I've had the same blades on for three years now. Wipe them with an alcohol wipe then spray them with 303 protectant. The alcohol wipe cleans off the dirt and road oil and the 303 protects the rubber from the UV of the sun.
  10. Great idea. Here's another idea. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KCRRPS8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_V9i2FbHXAZF93
  11. This may help you to extend your range up to 1000 ft. Remote Start System - Extended Range | The Official Site for Ford Accessories
  12. There's no adjustment on the cable. Just replace it, simple process, pulls out from the cabin side. About $30 new online. Don't put off too long. Can snap.
  13. What do you attribute the long life on the water pump on? Coolant and oil changes? What intervals?
  14. OK. I changed the air in my tires from summer air to winter air, flushed the wiper fluid bottle and refilled with fresh fluid and dehydrated water. But i can't find the location of the blinker fluid bottle. I know it's located near the front end, thought it was near the washer bottle, but the darn bottle eludes me. (Left front turn signal is blinking on and off about once a second. Tried changing the bulb, but no joy). I know im supposed to flush it once a year, ok I'll admit I've been lax, haven't changed the fluid in a three years. (Had the Ford garage do it during oil changes). But thought id do it myself and save a couple of bucks. Bought a quart off Amazon for $13.95. Think this is the right stuff (or should I use synthetic, bought the low sodium stuff)?
  15. OK. Try this. 1. Turn the ignition to the off position. 2. Close all the doors. 3. Enter factory–set 5–digit entry code. 4. Press and hold the 3 • 4. While holding the 3 • 4, press and release the 7 • 8. While still holding the 3 • 4, press and release the 7 • 8 a second time. 5. Release the 3 • 4. You should receive a horn chirp to indicate that the system has been disabled - or - a chirp followed by a honk to indicate the system has been enabled.
  16. I was told by my local parts manager (Ford garage) that they are unable to cut the new keys. It requires a new type key machine that costs thousands. Only one locksmith in the county that had one and they have him cut all these new keys. While they do mark up, it's not all that much as the locksmith charges to recover the outlay of this special key machine and charges accordingly. (They charge more for the key blanks as well). At the time, about two-three years ago, I think they quoted $500.
  17. Becaose hee wountz tu imsreeeze hus hoorzepouwr. Oops, sorry, still had my KN95 mask on. "Because he wants to increase his horsepower." Everyone knows that Ford Engineering doesn't know all that much and the aftermarket people are better engineers.
  18. Try this procedure https://s550.guru/how-to-create-a-sync-3-update-log-file/
  19. The code is burned into the body control module rom. I would think that it's possible to change this module and have it reprogrammed by a dealer. The question comes in if they're allowed to do this and would the factory be required to assign a new code. (?) Would be fairly expensive of course. I'd talk to your local Ford parts agent and have him talk with the local area rep. I see this "feature" as a potential liability. Every used car sold still have a former owner(s) who could potentially still have the factory code. PS, I wonder if she may be using her personal code, and not the factory code. Try 《deleting all old codes》 and reprogram with a new code.
  20. Try contacting Rotunda at 800-768-8632 (option 4) or email at orders@rotundatechtools.com
  21. I had this happen on my 2009 MKX. Took it to the dealer and it turned out to be a vacuum hose on tbe back of the engine. Gas fumes were being drawn into the cabin air intake which is located in the engine compartment.
