OK. I changed the air in my tires from summer air to winter air, flushed the wiper fluid bottle and refilled with fresh fluid and dehydrated water. But i can't find the location of the blinker fluid bottle. I know it's located near the front end, thought it was near the washer bottle, but the darn bottle eludes me. (Left front turn signal is blinking on and off about once a second. Tried changing the bulb, but no joy). I know im supposed to flush it once a year, ok I'll admit I've been lax, haven't changed the fluid in a three years. (Had the Ford garage do it during oil changes). But thought id do it myself and save a couple of bucks. Bought a quart off Amazon for $13.95. Think this is the right stuff (or should I use synthetic, bought the low sodium stuff)?

Disable door keypad
enigma-2 replied to Polecatt's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
OK. Try this. 1. Turn the ignition to the off position. 2. Close all the doors. 3. Enter factory–set 5–digit entry code. 4. Press and hold the 3 • 4. While holding the 3 • 4, press and release the 7 • 8. While still holding the 3 • 4, press and release the 7 • 8 a second time. 5. Release the 3 • 4. You should receive a horn chirp to indicate that the system has been disabled - or - a chirp followed by a honk to indicate the system has been enabled. -
I was told by my local parts manager (Ford garage) that they are unable to cut the new keys. It requires a new type key machine that costs thousands. Only one locksmith in the county that had one and they have him cut all these new keys. While they do mark up, it's not all that much as the locksmith charges to recover the outlay of this special key machine and charges accordingly. (They charge more for the key blanks as well). At the time, about two-three years ago, I think they quoted $500.

Becaose hee wountz tu imsreeeze hus hoorzepouwr. Oops, sorry, still had my KN95 mask on. "Because he wants to increase his horsepower." Everyone knows that Ford Engineering doesn't know all that much and the aftermarket people are better engineers.

Disable door keypad
enigma-2 replied to Polecatt's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
The code is burned into the body control module rom. I would think that it's possible to change this module and have it reprogrammed by a dealer. The question comes in if they're allowed to do this and would the factory be required to assign a new code. (?) Would be fairly expensive of course. I'd talk to your local Ford parts agent and have him talk with the local area rep. I see this "feature" as a potential liability. Every used car sold still have a former owner(s) who could potentially still have the factory code. PS, I wonder if she may be using her personal code, and not the factory code. Try 《deleting all old codes》 and reprogram with a new code. -

I had this happen on my 2009 MKX. Took it to the dealer and it turned out to be a vacuum hose on tbe back of the engine. Gas fumes were being drawn into the cabin air intake which is located in the engine compartment.

Hey Froggy372, you ever figure this out?

Ford Edge Towing Guide
enigma-2 replied to Edge Guide's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
Looking over the various trim levels, it' appears to be related to engine ft.lb. ratings. With the 2.0L its 1,500 lbs. and 3,500 lbs. with the 3.5L. Looking at the Sport, the engine isn't rating for towing even though it has higher hp rating. -
Most likely cause is corrosion in the connection. I'd pull each and look to see which is corroded. Spray with electrical contacr cleaner. This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000BXOGNI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabt1_g4XPFbWVKGV57

I thought you were looking for the 307-584 - Compressor, 2-6 Spring (which is in the kit). Why not try writing the seller and see if he will measure the part and send you the dimensions? (Worth a try). You can buy a 303-1251 for $80 on Ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/OTC-303-1251-Ford-Rotunda-Front-Seal-Installer-and-Guide/274423189259?epid=1126233196&hash=item3fe4e58f0b:g:EfoAAOSw1tVfB4V6

2019+ Fog Lights
enigma-2 replied to IcyFridge's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Fog lamps may actually work against you in this case. They do throw more light on the road, but its close to the car and down to the sides. The extra light will appear as more light to your pupils, causing them to close slightly. This affects down road vision. (The true purpose of fog lights are to be used in periods of low visibility, fog, rain snow and are designed to light the edge of the roadway. It's assumed that in inclimate weather you are traveling at a very low speed, say 10 mph, and need extra light to find the edge of the road.) -
Is this what your looking for? https://www.ebay.com/itm/373245823046

Just guessing but it sounds like it's the "Parking Brake"? Page 187 of OM (1st edition).

2011 - 2014 Ford Edge Light Bar
enigma-2 replied to dfreeman332's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I'd be careful to keep rain, snow out of floorwell. Glad to hear the lights work out. I can't go anywhere around here (rural area) without having oncoming traffic. With some of the dark, rainy nights we've had, I don't think any amount of extra lightning would help. (Actually I think headlights act as a deer call.) -
Still getting bad certificate. Real pita. Every page get warning and takes several clicks to load. Also pages not loading properly.

Floor Mats similar to Findway's
enigma-2 replied to Zoey Marsdog's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Link looks broken. That and Findway does not list any products for the Edge. I haven't seen anything that is carpeted and molded up the sides like Weathertech. These are not what your looking for, but fairly well known, carpeted and have a water resistant layer. https://www.carid.com/2020-ford-edge-floor-mats/lloyd-ultimat-floor-mats-161195.html Now, if you REALLY want great mats ...... When I discussed this with my service manager, he said they were told that Ford wants to go with this new coolant exclusively. He also told me this was the only coolant they new stock. Whenever an older vehicle comes in for a coolant change they switch the vehicle over to this. I think that you can use it to top off existing coolants, but not all. Would have to check on this , but I thought he said something about the early coolants (meaning gold) not being compatible. (Think that's why they did an acid wash and full flush on mine).

Sync 3 Navigation Map Update
enigma-2 replied to baronizer's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Here and all of the other map makers spend millions each year to continuously develop and update maps each year. (A good example is the app called Waze paid $1.3 billion to Google for access to their maps). Ford charged us for the hardware and (to my understanding) never told us that we would get software updates for free for life. There's no real reason we need to update each year, I used to update every three years. And I also use Google maps on my cell phone when I need it. (But I prefer using my navigation system whenever I can). -
I bought Pirelli Scorpion's for my wife's Sebring Convertible and she lives them. But that car is a thousand pounds or more lighter. She has good traction in the snow with them. I had Bridgestone Dueler H/L's. Great tires. Replaced them with a new set before I needed to to restore tread for winter. I decided on Bridgestone's after reading results on Tirerack.com. They show best tires based on vehicle and use. I'm checking on their site and their now showing Pirelli Scoroion Verde All Season Plus and being top rated (2009 MKX with AWD). I don't trust any customer reviews unless they are showing at least 20,000 miles on the tire as all tires are great when new (and most reviews are written right after they had them installed). Before you decide, pick a couple of good choices thd read the reviews on Amazon. They tend to be more honest (more miles).
