Hey. I'm old. Dont rush me, I'll get there ?
-
Sure. They got by the Edsel didn't they? Let's see now, what else? There was the Ford Pinto, the Mercury Bobcat, the Ford Explorer (the early early years where it had a tendicy to roll over problem and terrible tires that killed 300 and injured ?) and the 8-million car ignition recall in the early 2000's due to stupid design. A weaker manufacturer would have stumbled, maybe even failed. And they got through the great recession without asking for a bailout. Henry Ford failed five times before he succeeded. His favorite saying was “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”

I dont think I'd attempt installing a 2nd battery. For your needs, I would consider camping power source. Can be plugged in to the Edge and recharged (or 120) and still be portable when at the campsite. Check out these recommendations: https://www.territorysupply.com/portable-power-camping

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?

Reminds me of an old song from Ray Charles. If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. Hopefully you got the bull by the .... well hope it's all fixed and smooth sailing. -

What year is your Edge and how many miles on it when the WP failed? (Great price on the replacment engine btw). -
Is your phone set to connect to the internet ONLY when using an network connsction? Try resetting Siri. Go to Settings and click on General. Scroll down and select Siri. On Siri screen, turn Siri off. Wait a few seconds then simply turn it back on. (I'd also restart your iphone as well).

If you're still have this problem (or simular), usually a radio reset will fix it. In the 16 Edge, hold down the POWER and FORWARD SEAT buttons until the radio resets (10-15 seconds). (Think those were the two buttons to press).

You can prevent this by either locking the doggy door at night or installing an electric locking door that unlocks with a collar that your dog wears. As Arnold says, he'll be back (smells food).

How old is the vehicle battery? -
I've been putting off adding a rear backup camera on my 2009 Lincoln MKX, for some time. The only good reason is, it looks to be a lot of work and I'm lazy. And don't want to pay $150 for a plug-in programmer. Camera is easy enough, because of the rear end configuration, I'll be mounting the camera just above the license plate. stuffing wires from the rear end to the back of the head unit is only a couple of hours, have identified the contact pins on the ACU that takes the camera input and have a harness that plugs into the ACU. But the real problem is the software code to activate the camera. Talked to a certified tech at my local Ford garage to see if I could pay them to hook up their computer and switch on the camera and he said absolutely not. Ford doesn't allow it. Been playing with Foreskin and I think that it's located in the APIM module (as built) at 7D0-01-01-x*xx-xxxx-xxxx. where *=3 is for camera on, no PDC *=9 is for camera off with PDC *=b is for camera on with PDC. (I would be using "b" ) I guess I'm looking conformation on the modification of the APIM AND does the BCM need to be modified as well. Has anyone done this mod? Did you have any problems running the camera wiring?

Actually that sounds like a leak around the antenna. Easy way to check. Pull the console down, (if I remember correctly you pull the back first) unplug the lights & switches and you'll see the bottom of the antenna. Have someone pour or hose water around the antenna base and watch from inside. May just need to tighten the screws that hold the antenna base to the car.

I hear ya brother. I'm retired and have the Ford garage do all my work. For both my old cars (2009 MKX & a 2004 Chrysler Sebring convertible). Everything. I'm too old, too lazy and I can afford it. Besides my 09 is still under warranty for the next 3 years - with $0 deductible, so ....... in she goes for every little thing. (The power lumbar just went out on the passenger seat. So she goes in week after next. Thinking $400-$500 as they have to pull the seat out, then pull out the entire mechanism inside the seat back and replace it with a new mechanism). Old cars that are well cared for are great. Just think of making $400/month payments vs. $500 year for upkeep and repair. Of course there are years where you spend more, but still .... BTW, I wouldnt trust parts off Ebay. Even the Motorcraft parts are known to be fakes. (Amazon too). Unless it's a cost factor, if I were you, I'd buy off Rock Auto. Costs a little more, but you can rest assured your getting quality.

Crutchfield has an excellent selection. You may need to pay extra for the steering wheel controls interface. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-ObDOdoWVKcr/m_266150/Car-Stereos.html?

Probably the antenna leaking. Easy enough to check. Start by removing the overhead console. Using your fingers, pry the front (side facing the cabin interior) down. This will release the console and it will pop out. Disconnect the harness and set aside. The base of the antenna is now exposed. Have someone spray water on the antenna and watch from inside the vehicle. If its leaking, try tightening the mounting screws from inside. Done. There are no drain lines for the moonroof. It uses channels external to the window that run along side. (The old drain tubes would clog, causing water backup and overflow into the cabin). If you getting water in the cabin in a 2010, on the drivers side, check the a/c drain. It terminates on the underside, on the drivers side, on the bottom side ob the xmission hump. Can usually blow it open with air (don't crank to 100 psi) and expect to get wet. If you find this was the cause, I'd recommend pumping some "Kool It" into the heater/evap core housing as stagnant water usually develops mold and mildew this time of year (and you end up breathing it). https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007PHD0S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4uMbFb1ZFGPRK There are several YouTube videos on how to do this (you wiggle the hose up the drain and press the botton).

Great upgrade. Does the manufacturer or supplier offer a path for future Sync upgrades from Ford?

New 19 ST - No remote start on fob?
enigma-2 replied to Jclewis84's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Bet someone in the design department at Ford got his ••• reamed for leaving that function still functioning. lol -
My laptop charges from the power outlet, video game system (in a car????), home DVD player (yea it's great to watch a movie while stuck in traffic, besides my MKX has a DVD player in the apim), small hair dryer (ummm, ok, but they do make 12 volt hair dryers), fast charging a tablet - most tables limit the charge whether on 12 volt or 120 due to heat. Point is, it's just a gimmick. If you need 120 volts, buy an inverter and plug it in your power outlet. I really can't think of any good reason to need one in this day and age.

Is that just another way of saying you sat around getting drunk eating pretzels and watching Gilligan's Island? (It was Mary Ann wasn't it)? lol

Replace all four. The battery is only rated for 10 years.
