Sometimes traction control works in advance (trying to predict possible wheel spin), so it might still have an affect on acceleration even if no wheel spin was present.

Sync 3 is mentioned? What other changes are made? I was hoping the 2016 Edge will get the Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection like the 2016 MKX.

ambient lighting problem after sync update
omar302 replied to flyers27's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Parking lights turning on with door(s) opening is normal. All recent Ford/Lincoln vehicles do it (unless it is a Police version with Dark mode on). -
Did you have traction control on or off? I would suspect the slower times with higher RPM (and the fluctuation in Lateral G's) was due to the traction control engaging. If traction control was on, did you notice the light coming on during the runs? more/less with the different RPM runs?

ambient lighting problem after sync update
omar302 replied to flyers27's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
If you mean by headlight indicator the green light with to opposite facing headlights, then that also turns on with the parking lights. When you open a door, the parking lights also turn on, I'd guess that this is normal. I can't confirm it because 2011 models do not have that indicator. -
If you check any spare parts website, the front rotors are the same for all models of the Edge (2011-2014). So if 17" wheels fit on the Edge SE, they should fit the Limited & even Sport models.

Yes, it is simple plug & play. Did on my 2011 MKX as we don't get the home link transmitters on any Ford or Lincoln in our region.

Cup holder ambient lighting
omar302 replied to JOEHIO's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
The MKX/Edge with ambient lighting do illuminate quite bright. I'd say similar to the other areas that illuminated by the ambient lights. But note that what works on the MKX/Edge doesn't necessarily mean it is the same for the MKS. It would be better to find another MKS & check it out. -
Yes. APIM replacement is included in an extended 5-year warranty (6 for Lincolns) irrespective of mileage. Check the attachment in this post.

Attached is the letter clearly stating 5 years for Ford vehicles & six years for Lincoln vehicles, it also clearly states the warranty is automatically transferred to subsequent owners. R12M02 Warranty Extension - APIM.pdf -

The extended warranty on the APIM is actually 5 years for MyFord Touch & 6 years for MyLicoln Touch, regardless of mileage. -
May 2011 build 2011 MKX. And it actually calculates the best case scenario, 100% life equals 10,000 miles. That's why I reset it to 50% at oil changes so I'd get the reminder after 5000 miles.
-
I know how it is supposed to work, but out of experience, it ALWAYS worked on mileage basis (maybe time). Even in our extreme summer months (120+ Fahrenheit), Oil life percentage was consistent with the normal commuting schedule (1% oil life per 100 miles driven). Since Ford recommends 5000 mile (8000 km) service intervals where I live, I reset the oil life to 50% & ALWAYS get the reminder at EXACTLY 5000 miles regardless of the extreme summer or mild winter months. As a matter of fact, even regardless of driving style as in the summer we have the habit of long engine idling & frequent long duration remote starts to cool down the interiors, and again the "IOLM" always goes by mileage.
-
I believe this is you issue.
-
The oil life monitor is simply a timer that measures mileage & time (and maybe other things). As stated by akirby, the recommendation by Ford for normal driving is 16000 km or 12 months (whichever comes first). 100% oil life will represent this normal range (16000 km / 12 months). If you want to go other than normal schedule, like extremely hot weather, (severe duty) you can go for 8000 km or 6 month service intervals, in this case reset the oil life to 50% and it will come up after 8k or 6 months.

As per the leaflet, "Trailer Sway Control" uses the technologies of Ford’s AdvanceTrac® with RSC® (Roll Stability Control) to provide an additional layer of confidence and control while towing., so it seams it is only a software/algorithm added without any additional hardware and/or sensors. Even the yaw rate, lateral acceleration and gyroscopic roll rate sensors are originally part of Ford's Stability & Roll control systems.

Speedometer and Cruise MPH drastically different
omar302 replied to bherm's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
Yes, it could be, or the signal driving the servo could be wrong making it an electronic error & not mechanical.- 15 replies

Speedometer and Cruise MPH drastically different
omar302 replied to bherm's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
The speedometer needle is driven by an electric motor/servo. Edit: Here is a cluster were you can see the back of it.- 15 replies

Speedometer and Cruise MPH drastically different
omar302 replied to bherm's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
The cluster is only electronically connected. There are only electric connectors at the back. The speedo needle is only electronically controlled. Hence why both should have the same reading. They are merely 2 output forms for the same input.- 15 replies

Speedometer and Cruise MPH drastically different
omar302 replied to bherm's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
The OP's issue is the difference between the speedo needle indicated speed vs. the cruise control set speed. In my opinion, the needle is not calibrated correctly. It is definitely not right. Will try to confirm it with my car. Also note that it will not have any relation to the tire size. The difference is in 2 outputs of the cluster itself.- 15 replies

On a 2013 Edge I recently drove with 'S' mode, other than the different shifting characteristic, I also noticed that it only went to 5th gear. Shifting back to 'D' at highway speeds showed the upshift with the RPM going down. Might also be the case for 2015s, if so, you'd definitelyg get less mileage if you used S mode so often.
