I think the base model didn't get the select shift.other models, SEL, Limited & Sport all have select shift & sport mode (2013+).

2013 Ford Edge SEL does not have sport mode
omar302 replied to chuckdonline's topic in 2013 Edge & MKX
Sorted out here I guess http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/10908-transmission-sport-mode-misnomer/?fromsearch=1 -
Compare the thickness to the old filter. It's the first time I read about someone complaining of its thickness. I know that installing the filter is a little bit difficult, make sure the tabs are in all the way before pressing the cover down. There should be force/pressure required when putting the clips back, otherwise how would it seal?

From my experience with frameless wipers on the Edge/MKX, they don't contour well to the windshield. Think of it as the windshield is curved too much for the wipers make full contact on the glass. Go back to regular wipers or those "hybrid" designs where the wiper looks like a frame less design but actually has a frame beneath the outer shell.

I don't think it's normal. Probably a PCM reprogramming is required. Just report it to your dealer.
-
I would lean towards #2 due to the lower mileage. If they'reb oth 2011, check the build dates, the newer the better as issues were being sorted out. Many TSBs are applicable to early build 2011s. That might help you take a decision if your still debating.

#1 is the Jeep "Grand Cherokee", not the "Cherokee". It has the ZF 8 speed train, RWD based, sized similar to the Edge. It can be optioned up to be much more luxurious than the Edge or sportier. In my opinion, unless you really need the extra off road capabilities, for similarly priced models, the Edge is the better vehicle.

Not me, neither did I here about it before. Probably an isolated issue.

With only 1 key, you need either a dealer or a locksmith with proper tool to program an additional key. I'd also suggest they erase all old keys.

Ford Panoramic roofs are not the same. I see 3 different types: 1- Sunroof with additional glass extending to the back seat. You'll notice that the front (moving) glass panel is smaller than the rear, and when it opens, it slides under the rear glass panel. All Ford/Lincoln models with panoramic sunroofs have this except the Edge, MKX (<2016) & MKZ (2013+). Edit: I think the 2015+ F150 now has the both glass panels nearly the same size, but the front panel slides under the rear panel. 2-The "vista" roof, where the front glass panel is larger than the tears. Here when it opens, the front glass slides over the rear glass & would actually open over the roof. As far as I know, this is only present in the 2007+ Edge & 2007-2015 MKX. The 2016 MKX uses type 1 unlike the new Edge. 3- The full roof, which only the MKZ has (2013+). The whole roof is one big glass panel, when it opens, it slides over the rear window.

If memory serves, if you have the 3.5 V6, then you have the standard skirts. With the 2.0 Ecoboost, skirts are different. Edit: Also Sport models have different skirts.

Motortrend SUV of the year issue - January
omar302 replied to GT500R's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
I'd guess it is also because of the tranny. As far as I remember, the torque limit was 350 lb-ft for the 6F55 transmission. Which was supposed to be the reason why the FWD based 3.5 Ecoboost engines were all limited to 350lb-ft of torque. I was surprised to see them announce the MKX with 335hp & 380lb-ft, more than even the RWD based F-150 (325/375). So it the PCM might be cutting off power considerable at shift points to protect the transmission. -
Glad your ok. Yes it was bad, but I wouldn't call "Lethal". Anyway, if you don't need the "kick" option, I'd guess the easiest solution is to disconnect the sensors under the car.

AWD will disconnect (turn off) when the spare wheel is installed. From the Owners manual:
-
For a black Edge, I suggest the 20" wheels as I think the polished wheels would look better on an all black car, plus as others pointed out, cheaper upfront, better ride (even if slightly), and cheaper tire replacements.

MFT report your successful installations or problems

Version 3.8 has been working fine for most people. Your issue is not normal. I suggest you try a Master Reset & battery pull. If you still face the same issues, then it probably is a hardware issue. APIM replacement might be required, which is covered by the extended warranty. -
With enough resources & time, it should be possible. But it would probably (actually, definitely) not cost effective. Especially for the 1st generation (2007-2010). If it was a simple add on or replacement, Ford would have added it to the 2016 Explorer refresh.

I know it has been nearly a year, but I just saw this & thought it might be relevant if the issue is still not resolved: -
Advice with light
omar302 replied to remsleep's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Those images reminded me of one difference in projectors for HID & Halogen lamps. Notice the slight light glare above the cutoff line? This is intentional on Halogen projectors meant for some light to bleed upwards to illuminate road signs, especially overhead. When an HID light is retrofitted in a halogen projector, this "bleed" becomes much more (HID is ~2X brighter than Halogen). Some retrofitters covered these holes, also referred by some as squirrel finders. -

I remember it was always like this, whenever the phone is connected, the audio from my HTC does not come over it's speakers, which is annoying, since I don't stream Bluetooth audio I just disable it from the phone to get notifications from the phone's speakers. You can also check google Maps' navigation settings. There is a setting to Play voice over Bluetooth added not long ago, uncheck it & try. Also the volume can be adjusted there.

Did you report the install of V3.6.2? if not, try that first.

This is for the Escape. The Edge uses a different AWD system, AFAIK. Though that is mostly true, the Edge does have software enabled torque vectoring. Braking one side to shift power to the other side. You can see as standard under Power & Handling . http://www.ford.com/crossovers/edge/compare-models/?models=titanium|sport
