What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
omar302 replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
For wipers, don't go with frameless wipers. My experience with them, the driver's side will not wipe properly at the top of the windshield, seems that it is curved a little too much for frameless wipers to accommodate. Regular or hybrid wipers are much better. -
Nail in tire....Replace or plug how to reset the TPMS
omar302 replied to onyxbfly's topic in Wheels & Tires
Like what was said earlier, it will reset it itself, but it might take a couple of minutes driving above ~20mph. From the Owners Manual: -
Seat Height??? What's yours?

I think you should also take into consideration if the vehicles have or do not have the vista sunroof. -
ambient lighting problem after sync update
omar302 replied to flyers27's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Drpepper, MFT/MLT DOES reboot every once in a while. Don't know the interval, but it does. Another telltale, press the settings button (gear icon) & select anything other than clock then press the home button. The next time you press the settings icon it will take you directly to the settings page of what you last selected. When the system resets, pressing the settings icon will take you to the clock settings instead (the default settings tab). Ambient lights are NOT supposed to reset. That's what the TSB was for. For the other settings, as I said earlier, most people don't notice the change & hence not enough complaints. Also, from the way Ford has handled this MFT/MLT issue from the beginning, it doesn't seem they care anymore unless they get many complaints. Also, 3.7 has the fix for the ambient lights, but not the other resetting settings. Here is one guy with an MKT who had the same issue as yours, even the TSB did not fix his ambient lights, turned out to be a weak battery. I also got confirmation from friend & his '13 Explorer Limited with V3.7 also reset the ringer/messages settings after some time from setting it to something other than default. -
ambient lighting problem after sync update
omar302 replied to flyers27's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
There is a TSB (posted here) for the ambient lighting that should normally repair the ambient lights resetting issue. Since it involves software updating on the APIM (MyFord Touch) it is included in the 5 year extended warranty. You should be able to get both your cars programmed by a dealer. Drpepper's issue is that even with this update he is still getting the problem. -
Temp change while in Home screen
omar302 replied to Vadimus's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Like what akirby stated, the climate indications would be on the left lower corner (the blue bar), only the temperature settings & heated/cooled seats show up on a permanent basis (if they are on), the fan speed indication would show for a few seconds if it was changed. There is no overlay that popups. If you are on the home screen, the blue bar would only show "Climate" & settings would be visible on the screen quarter above it (lower left quarter). Again, no overlays or popups on changes. -
ambient lighting problem after sync update
omar302 replied to flyers27's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
drpepper, I have 3.7 installed on my 2011 MKX (don't ask how or why! seems our dealer mistakenly installed it on some pre-2014 models), I don't have the ambient light reset issue, BUT the phone & messages ringers and display brightness settings do reset from time to time. never calculated the time interval though. The thing is that most (99%?) of owners don't change the default settings for the ringers & display & hence will never face the issue. I am trying with a friend to report if his '13 Explorer Limited does the same & will report back with an update. -
Since your out of warranty, you won't get anywhere except to repair it on your cost. What you could do, is keep the receipt & file a complaint. Maybe if a future recall or repair campaign comes up you'd be able to get a reimbursement. But looking at how (in)frequent this issue is compared to other things, it is unlikely that such a campaign will come.

I would definitely be upset unless I get a good discount for the miles.

Hazard warning lights turn on by themselves
omar302 replied to hilokamper's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
An Edge with the Sony system does have a different panel than that without it. You'll have to find one that looks similar to yours. Here is one with the Sony system on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-FORD-EDGE-OEM-RADIO-PANEL-ASSEMBLY-BT4T-18A802-CE-BB5T-18A802-C-/131588825869?hash=item1ea34e230d&vxp=mtr -
How far out of warranty is your car? Have you ever complained about it during the warranty period? Sometimes Ford makes goodwill repairs if warranty just expired. Try contacting the Ford rep in the forum for assistance.

Auto Highbeam?
omar302 replied to trimad22's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
If you mean by "Dial" the head light switch, this would not mean that you have Auto High beams. The Auto position mean auto headlights that turn on & off based on outside lighting. -
Weights listed on specification pages on Ford & Lincoln websites (Edge AWD: 4078 lbs., MKX AWD: 4387 lbs.) reflect base vehicles. So the Edge would be a 2.0L (4 cyl.) model, so the Sport would definitely be considerably heavier.
-
Regarding the MKX vs. Sport, the interesting part is the Torque rating of the MKX being 380lbs because all the 3.5L TT in FWD based offerings (SHO, Flex, Explorer, MKS, MKT) are limited to 350lbs Torque similar to the Sport. This was presumably due to the Transmission. So it is strange that the MKX has 380lbs, even more than the F-150, which would suggest there might be some serious torque management software to protect the transmission/drivetrain which might explain the difference in power "feel".

My seat is still ok. Though it has not been that long since, but I just remembered that those who do get their seats repaired, to check the door sill plate, when replacing the seat track on my car apparently the technician(s) dropped the seat on the driver sill plate & got it all dented up. Good thing I noticed it before leaving & was able to get it replaced on their account. It is the aluminum part of the sill plate, and on the MKX it comes only with the complete sill trim, quite expensive. So take care when receiving your car from repair.

Touch screen will not turn on
omar302 replied to Yoli Aguilera's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Unfortunately if it is a repeating issue, probably the APIM needs replacement. The good news, is that it has a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty, so it should be done free of cost on you. -
Doesn't the torque converter lockup also have an affect on engine RPM? usually when it locks up RPM goes down a little?
-
Honestly, I have not tried an Edge with HID, but since my brother's 2012 Explorer Limited & a friends 2013 Explorer Limited both have factory HID, I can see considerable difference between their light output & my factory 2011 HID on the MKX. I would say that the projectors Ford uses on their Ford vehicles are worse than what is used in the Lincoln.

For information, the Explorer's Panoramic Sunroof allows for the sunroof to open with the shade only partially open (rear seats remain under the shade). Granted, the Explorer's portion of the roof that opens is sized similar to normal sunroof & it open between the rear glass panel & headliner. The Edge on the other hand has the larger portion that opens & it opens to above the roof.

Current incentives vs waiting for 2016 and Sync 3
omar302 replied to WylieSteve's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
Yes, Sync 3 is a real improvement, but for those who really care. MyFord Touch has been stable in it last version. BUT, if your the kind of person might have regrets after a purchase, then better wait for Sync 3. You will not be able to upgrade to it later. Also, don't forget that MyFord Touch probably reached the end of it life. There hasn't been any updates for nearly 1 year, while Sync 3 is just starting and it will definitely get better with updates. Sync 3 is also expected to add Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. -
Rain Sensing wipers
omar302 replied to Frisco1522's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
There was a TSB for this to replace the sensor. TSB 11-11-12 for Uncomanded wipe.
