Added some images taken yesterday hoping to make things clear. Note: The first one is an "unscientific" comparison showing the Moorcroft Filter more transparent, hence less restrictive in my opinion.

Titanium tailgate and hill - won't close
omar302 replied to Paul Proefrock's topic in Exterior & Body
Thinking out loud, since the tailgate has sensors or a mechanism to detect obstacles when closing/opening for safety, the obstacle detection system would probably take into consideration the weight of the tailgate while closing/opening. On level ground, the power tailgate would be holding its weight all the way from fully open to closed position. While on a steep uphill incline, imagine how the tailgate would reach a position while closing that the weight being held up is significantly reduced prompting the obstacle detection to sense a safety issue. -
From my experience, I used ATP's carbon (charcoal) cabin air filter & found that air flow is less compared to the Motorcraft filter. TYC's normal (non-charcoal) filter also had more air flow, but the filter surrounding (bezel?) is thick, like ATP's, the filter door has 2 or 3 plastic protruding pieces that are supposed to hold the filter in place when you close the filter door. With the thicker filter surroundings of the TYC & ATP filters, the filter door would actually squeeze the filter in instead of holding it in place. If you look at the filter from the top, you might even see the filter bending becaus of it.

The new Edge has channels on the sides of the windshield presumably to collect water & prevent it from sweeping to the side windows, I would suspect that water draining down those channelsago directly to the A pillar seams.

I know this might be irrelevant, but with the THX sound system, the setting never changes from its set position, stereo or surround. Those facing this issue, does it happen immediately or after a few days? Can you test sometimes? Please set the phone & message ringers to "text to speech", does also reset to the default ringer after a few days? I suspect that some settings are always resetting to their defaults after the system restarts every few days. Like the ambient light settings which was then fixed later with software upgrade.

Hazard warning lights turn on by themselves
omar302 replied to hilokamper's topic in 2011 Edge & MKX
In my opinion (not experience) regarding this issue: 2) It would not be covered under the extended APIM warranty since the warranty is on the APIM itself. 3) No idea, but would be surprised if it wasn't plug & play. It is only a button part of the complete panel, wouldn't expect them to change the panel connections. 4) Ebay? try searching for a used one? 5) I don't think it would need programming, because it is only a panel with capacitive buttons. Also, since it is a capacitive button, did you try cleaning the button? maybe there is some residue on it that is causing it to activate when heated up? I have also 2 listings on E-bay for a used panel, but they are missing the bezel with the actual hazard switch, so it is detachable for sure: http://www.ebay.com/itm/191569664793 http://www.ebay.com/itm/361315935867 -
winshield glass
omar302 replied to lpgao's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Remember that the OEM windshield is SoundScreen, a model that has sound insulation sandwiched between the laminated panels. So if your getting something else, it migh not have the same sound isolation. -
Not trying to defend Ford, but your personal one time experience should not affect your work decisions. It would be unfair for your workplace.
-
limited & Sport models in addition to the Lincoln MKX have Laminated front side windows for additional sound insulation. SE & SEL have regular side windows.

Before going to the dealer, I would suggest replacing the wiper switch as suggested in the 2nd post. The switch is only for ~$30. http://m.ebay.com/itm/111697230173

I have a 2011 MKX, which is quite different from the new 2015 Edge. But it so happens that it is the same, I can only open them & not close. The feature are called by Ford "Global Open" & "Global Close". But I do remember reading that the 2015 Edge only has global open & only for the front windows, which is a bummer because the '13+ Fusion (on which the '15 Edge is based on) has Global Open & Close on all 4 windows. It also has Auto up/down windows on all 4 doors.

It seems then it is something a dealer should fix. That is not normal. My guess would be a programming issue. Go to a different dealer or contact the Ford Service representative in the Forum (Tricia): http://www.fordedgeforum.com/user/29146-fordservice/

The Auto or Manual selections should be after you select "Climate Control". Press the right button or "ok" to enter "Climate control", then you should have the options "Auto" & "Manual". Is remote start even enabled? Can you start remote start your car? Do you have "System" among the categories? Make sure it is checked (to enable it).
-
Do you mean you cannot select Auto or Manual? Or you cannot set the values? Selecting Auto will let the system determine the AC settings on remote start. Manual setting means the last setting the AC was at when you turned the car off. You cannot set a pre-defined manual value. Examples when having set to Manual: 1) you have the AC off, turned off your car, when remote starting the AC will be off. 2) You had the AC set to Auto - 70 degrees, turned off your car, when remote starting the AC will be on Auto - 70 degrees. Refer to this section for Auto setting details: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/vdirsnet/OwnerManual/Home/Content?bookCode=O27061&languageCode=en&marketCode=US&viewTech=IE&chapterTitleSelected=G1676027&subTitleSelected=G1676045&topicHRef=G1547516&div=f

Will 2015 18" OEM Explorer wheels fit on 2011 Sport?
omar302 replied to bboytails's topic in Wheels & Tires
I am not sure about the 18" Explorer wheels, but I tried the 20" Explorer Limited Wheels (polished) & they rubbed against the brake calipers on my 2011 MKX (similar to your Edge). -
New DRL Bulbs
omar302 replied to built2prfctn's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Although the Owners Manual states H15 for DRL without specifying if it's for HID or non-HID or both, but since the high & low beams are 2 different bulbs in non-HID Edges (H11 low beam & 9005 high beams, the high beam bulb is probably in the same location of the DRL/H15 of HID Edges. HID-equipped Edges have the Low/High beams in the same position (the outer portion/projector) with a moving shield to allow for both functions. It would be better if someone with a non-HID equipped Edge could confirm the actual bulbs installed in their headlight. -
The wiper stalk switch? Since both front & rear stopped working, the stalk is common to both. But I don't know how to test it. Is the washer working (front/rear)?

Do not put premium fuel in a EcoBoost motor
omar302 replied to sideswipe's topic in EcoBoost Mod & Tech
There are different methods of measuring the octane rating of fuel. In short, USA uses the AKI while costa Rica uses RON. So 91 Octane in Costa Rica is nearly equivalent to 87 in USA and the 95 in Costa Rika is equal to 90-91 in USA. For more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating -
There was a TSB for the Drif/Pull issue. Attached a copy. TSB 10-24-8 Drift Pull.pdf

2015 Edge Sport Lane Assist
omar302 replied to built2prfctn's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
From my test drive with the LKA on an Explorer Limited, if you were holding the wheel, the nudge is only an annoyance & will not overtake your lane change. This is with system turned to alert + assist. Also, if your swerving out lane at a high rate such as an emergency change or turning, the system will not steer you back. Finally, you can simply turn off assist & keep the alerts. -
If you like details, check also the rear spoiler, have also noticed they are different. Couldn't see you cars from the back, but newer 2011 & all 2012-2014 have a different rear spoiler.
