Ford Adaptive Cruise Control Explained
omar302 replied to blitz118's topic in 2015+ Edge & MKX Generation II
I understand how ACC could help, but the test in the video is not really good. First, now we how with no ACC the cars are following with very small gaps. Second, even with the "phantom" traffic (no ACC) the last car still cleared the way before the other test with ACC. So ACC came out as a convenient feature rather than traffic reducer, which it is. -
Dual Climate Control Repair
omar302 replied to finzup's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I believe this is what you want, left side (driver):https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-mode-motor-7t4z19e616b/?c=Zz1odmFjJnM9ZXZhcG9yYXRvci1jb21wb25lbnRzJmk9TVcwNzExMDUmcj0xMiZhPWZvcmQmbz1lZGdlJnk9MjAxMiZ0PWxpbWl0ZWQmZT0zLTVsLXY2LWdhcw%3D%3D -
With my Edge Sport (Middle East - Hot Market version) there is a PTU oil change interval recommendation by Ford, 9K or 20K miles based on operating conditions (attached). Also, there is a PTU temperature sensor and I can get the reading through ForScan. But I do not know what would happen if the temperature goes high, a light in the gauges or warning message? I don't know. This article about the Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer) has a section about the PTU, and it seems there might be a warning message:

Congratulations. Hope you enjoy the ride and welcome to the forums.

Fiber Interior Water Cup Holder Panel Cover Trim
omar302 replied to t0lkman's topic in 2016 Edge & MKX
I did not, but just note that that listing is for the Chinese Edge that has a cover for the cup holders. So it might not fit the US/North American Edge.- 1 reply

Memory seat loses setting!
omar302 replied to edgemaster's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so to reset the electronics. -
You can find the original PTU online for $650.00. Example: https://m.ebay.com/itm/New-OEM-Ford-PTU-Transfer-Case-Assembly-Taurus-Edge-Explorer-Flex/192576835736 Note that there are many versions of the original PTU, they are supposedly incremental improvements. You won't be able to know the Dorman part is equivalent to which version as they are all interchangeable. I'd suggest you get the latest number from the dealer & then look for it online.

I believe one the things that made it hard to diagnose failing Throttle bodies was the fact that after a restart the diagnostic code in the PCM would be erased making it difficult for a dealer to confirm it. One more thing to add to the akirby's list, the vehicle would usually go in to limp mode and reduced engine power with a wrench symbol warning in the instrument cluster.

Neither on Android, just checked now. I was posting from my Windows Laptop.

Not all people have the same personality and attitude to deal with sales people as you do. And even if he did go on a long test drive, some things don't become clear until several days or weeks of ownership. They are still there, see the attached screenshot.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
omar302 replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Couple of days ago, I accidentally found out that I am able to turn off the rear reading light(s) from the front. If a rear light is turned on manually, all you need to do is turn on all the lights from the front overhead console and then turn them off. The rear light(s) will then turn off. This was not mentioned in the manual, but I have noticed it shows that those without the vista roof actually have an additional button to turn off all the lights. As I have the Vista roof, I don't have that extra "all off" button. -
Update, like what @lildisco stated in post #3, it seems to be normal, checked another 2016 and had the same cut-outs. Difference only that on my Edge the cut-offs aren't positioned symmetrical (as if the weatherstrip had moved), i'll try to align it correctly. Also the part's picture on fordpartsonline has the same cut-out.

Watching this video, it seems removing the emblem is possible without removing the light bar.

Stock 21" vs. stock 20", there should be difference in ride quality due to thicker rubber (1" difference in diameter, 0.5" more cushioning) and the reduced weight. But whether you'll feel it or not differs from one person to another. What aspect of ride quality your not comfortable with? It is the suspension movement, like the car going up and down in a too quick fashion that makes your back and neck move quickly (older person? ), then it won't be fixed with smaller wheels. But if it is the impact of the tires on bumps, then there should be a difference. As for the TPMS, you should be able to use the same sensors. You have actually put more weight on your wheels (unsprung mass) which is not good on the ride quality.

Is the climate (A/C) on? The fans will come on anytime the the A/C is on regardless of engine temperature. Turn off the A/C and the fans will turn off if not needed in about 1 minute.

I don't see a photo.

NO paddle shifters on the 2019 Edge FWD... WHAT??
omar302 replied to tk2fast's topic in Transaxle (FWD)
Compared to my previous 2011 MKX with the 3.7L engine, the 2.7L EcoBoost has very weak engine braking on manual downshifts, so I suspect that manual downshifting on the 2.0 will not help on steep downhills. I think that's one area where there is really no replacement for displacement. -
The stock Led strip in the bumper is not bright enough to function as a DRL. This is the kit I mentioned: http://drivebright.com/home/shop/ford-edge-led/ And this is a package with HID: http://drivebright.com/home/shop/package-4-edge-led-drl-kit-hid-headlight-kit-save-70-00/ Every post I remember reading here regarding them have been positive.
-
The DRL operates at a reduced voltage (or some alternating method) which doesn't work nicely with HID. AFAIK, you have 2 options, either install a Relay & get the HIDs to run from a different power source, or, change the DRLs to the turn signals then run HID normally. Another option might be to disable stock DRL and install a set of drivebright LED signature lights that are bright enough to function as DRLs.

2016 Sport. I wasn't trying to say catch cans are good or not, but was stated in the bulletin is interesting.
-
I thought it is the same oil that is collected in the catch can, isn't it?
-
Just read the attached General Service Bulletin (GSB - Gasoline Engine oil and coolant leaks at the turbocharger) and found an interesting bit of info: G0000185.pdf

The 2016 parts list isn't clear, but the 2011 is. You can clearly see different spring part numbers with & without sunroof. https://www.tascaparts.com/auto-parts/2011/ford/edge/sel-trim/3-5l-v6-gas-engine/rear-suspension-cat/rear-suspension-scat

Replacement Options for 21" Pirelli P-Zero Performance Tires
omar302 replied to roots57's topic in Wheels & Tires
https://www.vredestein.com/car-suv-van/tyre-finder/tyres/product/1/265/40/21/1166 This tire is from the Netherlands, it is a good tire I got as replacements to the stock 21" tires. Good reviews on them from UK & Australia, but not sure if they are available in the US.
