Comprehensive List of Possible Forscan Mods?
omar302 replied to ben senise's topic in Accessories & Modifications
As per NoDTMF, it is possible to get the current Gear notification through a tune. https://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/24624-wanting-an-lms-tune/?do=findComment&comment=188285 -
The Edge in Europe only gets Diesel engines, as far as I remember. Also, putting port & direct injection is supposedly to "work together to improve power output, efficiency, and emissions", so maybe the benefits are not cost worthy for the smaller 2.0 EcoBoost. Edit: just noticed, yes the 2.0 is also offered in Europe, but not on the Edge.

Heated and Cooled Seats
omar302 replied to Wedgeamatic's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
I had a 2011 MKX with the cooled seats before the Edge, and they also had the same issue, the back does not cool that much while the bottom does. But it was still better than other cars I rode in with cooled seats. And I hope with this fix ($100 for the exhaust only) will fix it. -

Heated and Cooled Seats
omar302 replied to Wedgeamatic's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
tmarsh, did you get the full kit? I just ordered the exhaust parts as I didn't want to remove the factory sock so that I'd still have warranty in case of anything that might come up. And thanks for the write-up. -
Maybe slightly off topic, but would the tune allow Sport mode to go to 6th gear automatically? In stock form Sport mode will only shift till 5th, that is automatically not using the paddles.

With ForScan you could actually read the individual tire pressures & temperatures.

Ford's OEM 21" wheels are made in China. As far as I remember reading embossed on them. The Sport's 20" are made in USA. They are very expensive because that's how any wheel is priced through a car dealer. OEM wheels are always very expensive at car dealers. By the way, the 21" wheels can be had for around $650 new. https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-wheel-alloy-fk7z1007a/?c=Zz1mcm9udC1zdXNwZW5zaW9uJnM9d2hlZWxzJmk9TVMxNTMzNjUmcj0xJmE9Zm9yZCZvPWVkZ2UmeT0yMDE2JnQ9c3BvcnQmZT0yLTdsLXY2LWdhcw%3D%3D The 20" wheels are more expensive, probably due to being made in USA vs China. https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-wheel-alloy-ft4z1007f/?c=Zz1mcm9udC1zdXNwZW5zaW9uJnM9d2hlZWxzJmk9TVMxNTMzNDUmcj0yJmE9Zm9yZCZvPWVkZ2UmeT0yMDE2JnQ9c3BvcnQmZT0yLTdsLXY2LWdhcw%3D%3D

Backup Camera replacements that work, Please post
omar302 replied to hilokamper's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Reverse camera configuration for the 2011 can be done using ForScan. But the camera should be OEM. I don't really remember where it is in ForScan, probably under BCM. -
Front & rear door trim panel removal procedures for the 2015 Edge are attached. I believe the 2017 should be identical. Front Door Trim Panel.pdf Rear Door Trim Panel.pdf

The noise is certainly strange, but if it is leaking vacuum then the booster needs replacement. There is an extended warranty on it for a one time replacement. www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/13888-13n02-extended-warranty-coverage-on-brake-booster/

128 GB is not much nowadays, you need 1 Tera or more. For the USB-2, shouldn't old drives still work on USB-3 ports since they are backwards compatible? Maybe you meant USB-C? Even for that you can get an adapter. Maybe what I'm trying to say is don't let the USB ports limit your options.

HID Bulb Replacement Cost
omar302 replied to CMOS's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
If the Edge is like the 2011-2015 MKX, which I expect is, then the HID bulbs can be replaced without removing the headlight assembly. Just like what tamugrad2013 stated above, unscrew the cap, disconnect the cable, then twist the HID bulb (counterclockwise?) to remove it. 2011's, if like my old 2011 MKX the bulb size is D3S and had the old OSRAM 66340. In 2012 or 2013 they started using an improved (slightly) model, HBI. Also as tamugrad2013 stated above, the CBI are much better, but there are now even more option. From OSRAM you also have the HBB. From Philips there are the Xenon X-tremeVision gen2 and Xenon Whitevision gen2. Too many options. But if you are just looking for cheap replacements, you can get these for example for cheap. -
The below procedure worked on my 2016 Edge. I would only add that I had initially over inflated the tires by ~5 psi and drove it for a few minutes to make sure the sensors were not in sleep mode.
-
Never read of anyone attempting it. It probably will not be easy, if possible. Will require added hardware (sensors & module obviously, and wiring) and software programming to enable them to work with the vehicle systems.
-
May I ask, how do you get the boost reading? A dedicated gauge or through a connected device? I'm asking because in ForScan I can see 21 psi boost with stock everything and at partial throttle, try to get the reading at WOT.

I was answering akirby on the Platinum membership that it works. It's actually a platinum theme. It looks just like the regular theme only add are removed in the full web version of the forum.

Platinum membership for me enables a premium theme on the desktop that removes all ads. So it does work in one way at least.

New to a 2012 SEL, 3.5l, need to tow.
omar302 replied to ORradtech's topic in Cargo, Hauling, Roof Racks & Towing
You can check on www.etis.ford.com for the features included in your build. It will mention class II tow package if it is included. As for parts, probably only what you listed us different, though I think the trans cooler is part of the condenser and is the same for both, tow & non-tow. But, sometimes there is more than what is advertised, for example the MKX (the Edge's mechanical twin) gets a larger opening behind the grille to allow more airflow when equipped with the tow package. Also, the engine tuning is different, I know with tow package you also get trailer sway control and I believe a higher engine idle speed (650 Vs 600 rpm). -
Ford 2016 AWD Titanium with 20" wheels + 18" spare tire
omar302 replied to t0lkman's topic in 2016 Edge & MKX
As far as I know, the same spare is for all trims, but in the parts list there seems to be a steel & aluminum spare wheel. I don't know on what basis which is included in any trim, that is if they are even supplied differently as it could be a parts list thing and/or market dependant. My 16 Sport has the steel spare. -
Highway mpg will differ a lot as speed increases. Someone driving 65-75 mph will easily see better economy than another driving 75-85.

The Edge has a normal brake system. Do you wear shoes that have deep groves in their soles (tread?)? I notice the same thing which is due to the horizontal rubber strips on the "aluminum" pedal surface. Seems that the shoes grabs it. Wearing different shoes with flat(ter) bottom makes braking normal.
