NO paddle shifters on the 2019 Edge FWD... WHAT??
omar302 replied to tk2fast's topic in Transaxle (FWD)
Compared to my previous 2011 MKX with the 3.7L engine, the 2.7L EcoBoost has very weak engine braking on manual downshifts, so I suspect that manual downshifting on the 2.0 will not help on steep downhills. I think that's one area where there is really no replacement for displacement. -
The stock Led strip in the bumper is not bright enough to function as a DRL. This is the kit I mentioned: http://drivebright.com/home/shop/ford-edge-led/ And this is a package with HID: http://drivebright.com/home/shop/package-4-edge-led-drl-kit-hid-headlight-kit-save-70-00/ Every post I remember reading here regarding them have been positive.
-
The DRL operates at a reduced voltage (or some alternating method) which doesn't work nicely with HID. AFAIK, you have 2 options, either install a Relay & get the HIDs to run from a different power source, or, change the DRLs to the turn signals then run HID normally. Another option might be to disable stock DRL and install a set of drivebright LED signature lights that are bright enough to function as DRLs.

2016 Sport. I wasn't trying to say catch cans are good or not, but was stated in the bulletin is interesting.
-
I thought it is the same oil that is collected in the catch can, isn't it?
-
Just read the attached General Service Bulletin (GSB - Gasoline Engine oil and coolant leaks at the turbocharger) and found an interesting bit of info: G0000185.pdf

The 2016 parts list isn't clear, but the 2011 is. You can clearly see different spring part numbers with & without sunroof. https://www.tascaparts.com/auto-parts/2011/ford/edge/sel-trim/3-5l-v6-gas-engine/rear-suspension-cat/rear-suspension-scat

Replacement Options for 21" Pirelli P-Zero Performance Tires
omar302 replied to roots57's topic in Wheels & Tires
https://www.vredestein.com/car-suv-van/tyre-finder/tyres/product/1/265/40/21/1166 This tire is from the Netherlands, it is a good tire I got as replacements to the stock 21" tires. Good reviews on them from UK & Australia, but not sure if they are available in the US. -

-
Don't forget that there is a new transmission which means different gear ratios, so the final drive alone does not give the full picture. But since it is a 8 speeds versus 6 speeds, there will be a difference.
-
Can't comment on something I don't understand. But different part numbers can be for any difference. Even the same model year with & without vista roof would have different part numbers.

On the 2011 MKX, the worst thing was not having front parking sensors. On the 2016, the short dead pedal, or actually that there it is closed from the top. Having size 13 shoes doesn't help. The 2nd thing is not having the washer & split camera view at the rear like the front.

I'm with Nick on this one, but that is my opinion, a opinion only. Ford's website for the 2019 ST doesn't even mention ST tuned, only "Sport Tuned Suspension". Then again, on Ford's Media website, it is clearly more than "just" a rebadged "Sport", with an ST-tuned sport suspension, but doesn't seem to be the full "ST" treatment, merely "Enhanced". Considering there is still no firm evidence of either way, I'd suggest to let it go till some new info comes up.

I already took it in for it, but the odor is still there. Our dealer is not a competent one, but we don't any other one here, so I have no other choice.
-
@lildisco Thanks for the pictures, do you get the exhaust odor under hard acceleration with climate on recirculating? Also, it seems the cut-offs on your liftgate are symmetrical on both sides? Location is not very clear on the first pic. Can someone else confirm? Especially on a year other than 2016? Maybe a bad batch?
-
I think it refers to the minimum wheel size. On my 2016 Sport ETIS has it listed as "Brake Disc 18 Fr Vent/17 Sol Rear", guess the ST brake package nets you bigger rear vented discs instead of solids.
-
Could someone with a 2015+ Edge confirm if this is normal or not? The weatherstrip for the lift gate has 2 places were it seems like a small piece is cut off. This is on the outer edge. Please see the photos. 1 cut is at the bottom right the other is at the left tailight.

You mean the grille looking area on the bottom spoke? That is only a decoration. You have the adaptive steering wheel & the motor is behind it. Vehicles that don't have adaptive steering have an opening in that area.

Any Windshield Wiper Rec's?
omar302 replied to chefduane's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
I have recently tried cleaning the blades with a high concentrate mixture of MotorCraft windshield washer with water & it made a big difference compared to cleaning with water only. -
You need a special tool to remove the power outlet, then I believe you can replace the cover. https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-56457-Cigarette-Lighter-Removal/dp/B00G3YYSLE/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1528293696&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=Dorman+56457+Cigarette+Lighter+Socket+and+Removal+Tool&dpPl=1&dpID=41jzz8XCo5L&ref=plSrch

SE with AWD come with 18" wheels standard (245/60R18). Probably due to the brakes as I recall AWD had larger front brakes.

Was the driver's side also recalled for the 2007-2010 models? It is not included in this list: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/maintenance/recalls/frequently-asked-questions-regarding-takata-airbag-inflator-recalls.html
