Rattle coming from the center of dashboard...
enigma-2 replied to WingNut's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Hard to make out. I had a sound somewhere simular. It turned out to be the windshield defroster grill that had popped up on the right side. Pushed it back down (when I finally found it) and that stopped it. -
How about "The Gredge". (Green-Edge)

Follow up. I pulled the blower and it seemed to be ok. No apparent way to oil the bearings. Will wait until it finally goes. Will replace with Motorcraft when it does, as the others had bad ratings.

Driver seat heat/cooling not working
enigma-2 replied to Ljstandafer04's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Confusing. What do you mean by this? (Seats have heaters and/or air conditioning). -
Looks like my blower is going dry, starting to make noise. Intermittent so far, but definitely getting to the point where I need to replace. Looking over the market, I can buy a TYC for $42, a Truman for $46 or a Motorcraft for $123. Has anyone else replaced their blower with one of the off brands and are you happy with the decision?

Driver seat heat/cooling not working
enigma-2 replied to Ljstandafer04's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Sounds like two days is a little long. I had a seat lumbra motor strip it's gears. They had to pull the seat, pull all the guts out of the seat back and replace everything in two hours. Don't believe you get a loaner unless you own a Lincoln or its covered under your warranty. You can always grab a rental from Enterprise. Think I got one from them at $32/day. -

What brand/model bulbs were you replacing?. -
Had the same question on my last update. Dealer technician told me it's not just updating Sync, they are also updating other modules that require connection through their computer. These modules need to be updated prior to loading new Sync software.

Years and years ago, my uncle dug a pit about 4 ft deep, and dropped his transmission by squatting in this pit. For an engine I would imagine you would need to get down at least 6 ft. (But, yea, you "can" do it without a lift). Hook a portable engine lift to the engine, pull the fasteners, drop it into the pit, push the car back, pull to old engine out of the pit, drop the new engine into pit, push the car back and hoist the new engine into the engine bay. .

Aerospace sealant. Can verify that it makes windshield wiper blades last.

I haven't named my MKX, but have named my septic tank.

I use 303 on a lot of things, bUT never thought about using it to double, triple or quadruple tire life.

is it ptu unit build with drain plug or should we make our own hole.
enigma-2 replied to cephas's topic in Welcome Forum!
Only the latest models have a drain plug. On earlier units (like mine), the only fluid is sucked out through the fill plug. A lot of dealers don't like this procedure & claim it's not a ford authorized process (it is actually, under the "special operating conditions" requirements at 60k miles). However most all reliable transmission shops will do the procedure. Insist on a quality lubricant (go Motorcraft if your not certain as to what's best). -
Radar Detector installation - direct wire questions
enigma-2 replied to shumax's topic in Accessories & Modifications
My Escort MAX2 has never failed me yet. Excellent distance and rejection. Warns as I approach a red-light camera location, air patrol area and speed camera. Uses the cloud to let me see what other Escort drivers are getting alarms on (within 30 miles). Tells me what frequency is triggering the alarm (some frequencies in the Ka band are false triggers such as car blind spot radars). Tells me the speed limit of thr street I'm travelling. Download firmware and database updates via the Internet. Connects via Bluetooth to my Android phone. -

There's an estimated 500,000 flood damaged cars, all of which could be sold on the open market under a salvage title. (Salvage title means the car costs more to repair than its worth). It's legal to sell a car with a salvage title if the seller discloses this before the sale. However it's not required for a private sale. Many of these cars may end up on Craigslist or a fly-by-night car lot. Carfax just opened a FREE FLOOD CHECK tool at www.carfax.com/flood To use it, you will need the car's VIN.

Be darned, never knew that was there. BTW, where is this? Doesn't show up on the list of forums.

Honk at the wrong person and get shot. Not to mention that's it's ILLEGAL IN ALL STATES. All states have a line in their vehicle laws and regulations that states a car horn can not emit an unreasonably loud or harsh sound. Not all of them have that exact wording, but they all make the same point. So why would you spend $500 on something that you can never use, and risk an expensive ticket if you ever did? Just to scare the shit out of a person riding a bicycle in your way? They have an equal right to use the road. Locally we have a lot of horse and buggies on our roads. About the speed of bicycles. They also have an equal right to the road. What your suggesting is just plain mean.
