2012 Edge Sport - SYNC Wonkiness
enigma-2 replied to Kissel's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
I would suggest possibly the SD socket my have possible corrosion. Before taking to dealer, try unplugging and replugging in the SD card to see if this breaks the film on the connectors. (Doesn't cost antthing.) If it works, try using some dielectric grease on the SD card pins. -
Nice! What was the temperature?

MFT Navigation - POI Importing
enigma-2 replied to Kleber Gomes's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
No, the POI database is a proprietary, separate part of the navigation map updates (can be purchased separately.) You could run a separate app on your cellphone or from one of several websites that track such information. -
Needs to change the struts. Easy to do, takes only minutes. Heres a Youtube video from mactfordedge on how to change. He used Monroe, I prefer Motorcraft (but they cost more.) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CqnmfIjmoqo

Oem cameras are selling for $340-$360 on Ebay. Don't think that it would be too difficult to replace.

Cold Air only
enigma-2 replied to Thomas Edwin Worthy's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Does really sound like the HVAC control module. Could be programming. Read the following series of posts: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/11725-dual-climate-control-repair/ -
ambient light question
enigma-2 replied to northernone's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
If you have ambient lighting, is it turned on? (Pg 399 of the OM). -
I'm confused. Are you saying that it opens ok, but does not close when the temperatures are cold? (Closes ok when warm).

It takes me to the correct page. Try it again.

Sync3 freezing 2016 edge sport
enigma-2 replied to RocketDog's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
It appears that since the last sync update, you now have to hold the "pickup-end" button on the steering wheel a few seconds until hang up occurs. (New "feature".) -
Never done it, but I believe if the bubbles are still there, I would poke them with a pin and try to roll them out. Failing this, I would try an ice cube to see if the rubber could be shrunk, then try rolling again.

Just the battery. Ford usually has a coupon for theirs posted on their website. If you go thst route, get the bigger battery, for about $20 more you should get an extra year or so of use.

The Vista roof is specifically covered in the esp warranty. (Just the mechanical and electrical parts, no glass is covered.)

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
enigma-2 replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Yeaaaa, when I used to get a bug up my ... I used to run it through the car wash first, just to get a head start on the process. At my age now, it's much easier to just drop it off at the detailer and pick it up at the end of the day. That way you can drink all the beer you want and still get it clean. HA. -
Perhaps a different dealer might offer better service. Why not contact these people and see what they can come up with. https://parts.lakelandford.com/a/Ford_2013_Edge37L-V6-FWDSport/_51505_6476434/FRONT-SEAT-COMPONENTS-SEATS--TRACKS/MS11440.html Btw, have you tried finding one from a wrecked car? There's a search site online (used it years ago when looking for a blue, leather steering wheel for my Merc Sable. Turned out a yard somewhere in Southern Ohio had one like new.) Don't have the url anymore, but it should pop up in a Google search.

You should be award that many dealerships will price match other websites (usually if you have it installed there and pay the labor). I've had good luck in price matching parts at my local dealer. (Remember that the parts department is separate from the service department.)

Perhaps replacing the entire seat cover would be easier. Here's what I'm thinking of: http://m.ebay.com/itm/2008-2013-Ford-Edge-OEM-passenger-lower-Factory-leather-seat-cover-/282254674908?hash=item41b7b08bdc%3Ag%3AF30AAOSwjXRXcaL5&_trkparms=pageci%253Aa882b5c0-b12a-11e6-b541-74dbd1807e79%257Cparentrq%253A8f2b8bae1580a5e0a74ae7deffefd2bc%257Ciid%253A1

I was thinking that the bearings can go bad on a car that sits most of its life. (His car has only 1/4 of normal milage). Rust, grease failure, etc. (?)

This also looks interesting. https://mom.me/lifestyle/1817-remove-pen-marks-car-leather/

Years ago, probably back in the 60's, there was a product that cleaned dryed on, blue/black ink out of a white shirt. It was called Swipe. (I don't know if this is the same product or not: http://www.swipehomecare.com/.) Anyway, the way it worked was (I was told) it chemically reacted to the ink and turned it clear. Can't vouch that this is the same as what I remember, but looks like it. Wouldn't hurt to try insmasmuch as your looking to replace the leather anyway.

Ah ha, but did you compensate for the Millennium Bug? When you do the correct date is February 30th 1981.

But, it would end up nagging you to death about updating your sync, checking your oil and air in the tires, clean the windshield, run a vehicle health report, put on your seatbealt, turn down the radio, stop cussing out the other drivers, slow down, speed up .....

Well, my garage kept, 2009 Lincoln MKX, with 100k mIles has no problems with its trailing arms or bearings. Maybe it's how you drive. Potholes and road hazards car quickly take their toll on a cars suspension. My wife's 04 Sebring Convertible goes through bearings. Third set so far. (And of course the water pump issue and all the known problems with Sebrings. Costs money to keeo a car in good condition.) Ive never had a problem with my PTU either. What kind of problems are you having with yours? Sorry to hear that, they are expensive if they fail.) Personally I find the 09 MKX to be the best car I've ever owned. And I like to keep it as close to showroom as possible, more fun to drive that way. Although it's only my opinion, I feel it's actually a better design than many of the later models (although I have to admit that the 2016's feature that shows a top-down view of all the space surrounding the car, is brilliant. I have to actually turn my head and look in the mirrors to see what's around me when I'm driving. Sync 3 isn't a must have however. Just my opinion.) But back to your car, are you planning on replacing the bearings? Wouldn't want those to fail on a long trip away from home. Never heard of the trailing arms failing. Are you talking about the rubber bushings getting old and worn? At 27k I would get a second opinion. Just doesn't sound right. That just not a part that fails, even if you hit road hazards. Even so, bushings aren't expensive. Sorry you are not happy with your 09 MKX. I really love mine.
