Try replacing fuse #12 with a known (new) good fuse. (Fuse 12 controls back lighting, some interior lighting & pudfle lamps). If this doesn't fix it, there appear to be two other possibles, one is the SJB failure and the second is the common junction where the power splits off to each of the various lights. (The common point is under the instrument cluster, exactly where you will need to trace it out). To isolate if it's the SJB you could cut the circuit wire coming off the SJB and slice it into a circuit of known good power. If the lights start working, the SJB is at fault. If not, it's the wiring from the SJB to the (and including) the common junction point. Try replacing the fuse as a start. (Just looking at it may not show a hairline crack in the fuseable link).

Try putting the headrest all the way up. If she's short, her head will not hit it (unless she puts it all the way back) and if she's tall, her head will hit the headrest down lower (will not push her head forward as far). My wife couldn't stand the headrest in mtmy MKX, so I turned hers around. Assuming it's the same as mine (2009 MKX), one side has an adjustment release and the other side has small hole where you insert a small tool (I use a scribe) to release the locking pin. Once released, the headrest will pull all the way off. If you can't find a small tool to push in the small hole, you can pry out the insert next to the hole and use a small regular screwdriver.

Well, there's a fix for that (heh, heh, heh) http://m.ebay.com/itm/Bores-731-511-Bumper-Guides-various-models-LED-pair-/400921110257?hash=item5d58c2a6f1%3Ag%3AOPMAAOSwNSxVV6Sb&_trkparms=pageci%253A70a4af3d-9fb0-11e6-9b2c-74dbd180f6a8%257Cparentrq%253A1ca14f151580a6a5e9bd8717fffc180d%257Ciid%253A1

What phone do you have? Here's a website that details which phones and carrier's will work with Sync 3. https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/all/phone/phones-compatible-with-sync.html#?year=2016&model=Edge&syncGen=sync3&country=us

I had asked at my local dealer and the service desk told me they couldn't do it. I then asked if they would ask the actual mechanic. They called him up to the service desk and he said, sure, I can do that. Told me that he would have to charge me around $40 for the fluid as Ford retails this stuff for an outrageous price, and I said that was fine. They added to flush to the work order and think it was around $80 for the flush. Service desk can only quote what it tells them in the computer (and there is no procedure for the previous Edge's and MKX's). Try asking.

Personally I question if the goop is all that harmful. After all the ptu has been running in the stuff for x miles. More likely it's the lack of fluid lubricating the gears and bearings that probably causes the failures. I agree with suck out what you can and refill with fresh fluid. I do think doing this annually is overkill however (so long as the seal isn't leaking).

If this is a natonal chain, would you share the name?

When I read this, the spare tire comes to mind. Setting back there in its little tire bed, sleeping peacefully, tooting a little puff of air every now and then, patiently waiting until that "Red-Nosed Reindeer" moment when it's called on to save us from being stranded. Does 'anyone' ever change a perfectly good spare just because it's 6 or 7 years old? Isn't that the very definition of "age discrimination"? Get me my lawyer.

What have you done to/with your Edge/MKX today?
enigma-2 replied to WWWPerfA_ZN0W's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I could easily see the suv, it was his brake lights that were nearly invisible. Besides being a safer issue I wonder if it wouldn't be a legal issue. FMVSS has mininum brightness requirement. His was well under. (He was running really cheesy rims as well). -

I was driving behind a SUV today (don't remember the brand) and nearly rear-ended the guy. He had put dark tint over his stop/turn lamps and I never seen his lights until I was about 5-10 ft away. Barely visable. -
I need to get a module and Forescan and play a bit. Sounds interesting. I had to have my drl turned on at the dealer, think it's a little safer driving that way. If your open to recommdations, consider a set of Weathertech floor mats and cargo mat. A little expensive but top quality and the do an excellent job of protecting the carpeting through the winter slush (if your in an area where there's snow and rain).

Another YouTube video with a different fix.

Bet your happy! If your like most of us, you will learn to love your Edge more and more every day. What did you modify with Forscan?

Chris, I sympathize with you completely. From a personal standpoint I have 100% confidence in my car. The moment that drops below complete confidence, I start looking for answers. There is nothing more important to a man than his family. A dad will sacrifice anything, everything, for his wife and especially his kids; and their safety is more important than anything else. There are so many dangers while driving a car, the last thing a father needs is to not feel his car is 10p% safe. That said, I'm certain your dealer will find the problem and restore your trust.

Was reading about testing done there that found some of the cans were essentially worthless while the RX cough up to 90-95%. Site: http://themustangsource.com/forums/f726/oil-catch-can-comparison-test-results-531966/ I would imagine that the location of the catch pan is important as they need to be emptied periodically.

Ive noticed mine being off by a few meters at times while driving, always seems to self-correct. Assumed this occured when it switching satellites and was recalculating. By being off by several km would indicate it was only locked on to 2 or 3 satellites. Could always stop and get into the test mode and check to see what satellites the system was actually locking on to.

I wear American Optical Pilot Aviator Sunglasses (non-polarized glass version). Was thinking, the instrument cover is a textured, matt finish, might make a difference if one were to use conditioner and turn it shinny. Not certain as to what my detailer uses, but it seems to last and not shinny.

I happened to remember this post while we were on a day trip this last Saturday and made a special point to look for glare. Have a 2009 MKZ and have to say, I have no glare no matter what angle the sun took to the car. Do see a weak reflection of the top of the instrument cluster, but it's not really objectionable. Don't know what difference there is between the Edge and MKX; or the 09 and the 08 or 07, but they seem to have gotten it right in the 09.

Noticed a strange map behavior this weekend. On my 09 mkx, I have three views that I can choose for the nap. One with "north up", one with "car up" and one that's "3D" (sort if). Anyway, wife notice that we were driving on the wrong road, map was showing we were on the next road over from the actual road. For the heck of it, I switched from the "car up" view to the "north up" and ... bingo ... fixed! Switched back to "car up" and we were magically transported back to the other road. Weird. Anyway, others have reported problems with the navigation display, if you are having this type of problem, try switching the view and see if it self-corrects.
