What changes would you like to see for the 2018 Edge?
enigma-2 replied to Chipster's topic in 2017-2018 Edge & MKX
Believe you can turn it off in the information display. Probably disables the button switch as well, but FOB and dash switch will still work. -
Latch is adjustable. Show it to your dealer.

With all the bogus clone products showing up on Ebay, wouldn't surprise me that fake SD cards are being sold.

Tail light Condensation
enigma-2 replied to d0minicano's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers
Not taking sides, but "external impact" could be more than another car bumping into yours. If could be a kid with a baseball bat or stone. It could be a shopping cart in a grocery parking lot (had a friend have this happen to him, wind blew a cart across lot and cracked his taillight, had store manager review on outside camera and was able to claim on insurance). What model & year do you own? Reason I ask is, 07-10 goes for $45 (free shipping) & 11-14 for $120 (free shipping) on Ebay. May be easier to bite the bullet and replace yourself. Item # 371660025470 for 07-10 Item # 161104912612 for 11-14 May not be exactly what you need, but a quick search should turn one up. Hope your able to find a cheap replacment. -
Nice! Love white cars with jussssst the right amount of chrome.

Could buy an OEM off Ebay. Seen several around the $400-500 range.

Does your radiator fans come on when switch on the ac? May not be getting sufficient airflow through the condenser if the fans aren't working at idle but get airflow when moving (esp above 30 mph). Other thoughts are low refrigerant. Pressure builds with engine speed. (Do you get cold air at idle if you goose the engine, say 3000 rpm)? Getting any codes? If you don't have a code reader, usually can get you codes read at Auto Zone or simular place.

Cat back kits for AWD: Old Topic - New Thread

Why screw with perfection? I like quiet, sorry :-) -
Can't say, never read where anyone has ever tried it. My initial guess is there's a difference, but I really don't know for certain. Too expensive to expirment with. (Close to $400 ea.) When you look up 2012, 13, 14 etc. mirrors, none list 09 as being comparable. Even the 08 isn't shown as compatible with the 09. Slap on a chrome cover, make it look spiffy.

I added blind spot mirrors to my 09 MKX. (They actually came out with it in late 09 model). It's simple, just change the glass (pops right out). Heres a link the one for the passenger's side http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-LH-REAR-VIEW-MIRROR-GLASS-2009-2011-FORD-EDGE-2009-2010-LINCOLN-MKX-/281559373222?fits=Year%3A2009%7CMake%3ALincoln%7CModel%3AMKX&hash=item418e3f15a6%3Ag%3A-mwAAOSweW5VTtXM&_trkparms=pageci%253A932a95da-38e0-11e6-9886-74dbd180eedc%257Cparentrq%253A7ad770d71550a6a4a6adc597fffc6c58%257Ciid%253A19 Do a search on Ebay for "2009 lincoln mkx mirror". Be certain to read the specs carefully for the drivers side. I got glass for puddle lamps, heated, auto memory adjust and auto tint. I paid the just over a hundred for the drivers. To pop out the old glass, push the inside of the mirror in with your fingers. If you look behind the glass through gap and you will see a plastic piece on the back of the glass snaps onto another plastic piece on the motor. Put a large flat head screwdriver in between and unsnap the clips. The new glass just snaps back on, push until you hear a pop.

Three days to change a brake booster? Three hours to change mine, and that included a car wash as well. -
Ummmmm, you should see how exciting it gets around here at lunch time when the production personnel hit the streets to grab a sandwich with their 1/2 hour lunch. Amazing how much power they squeeze out of an old Nissan.

Random subtle(but annoying) beeping
enigma-2 replied to RNmom0226's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Throw out some thoughts. All your doors shut tight, including the rear hatch? (Try manually opening shutting all). Does the airbag light illuminate when you start the car? (Bad buld/circuit has a beep warning that's intermittent). Either 5x5 or 3x2 dings. Is the airbag light lit after running? (Used car, no airbag, bad ground, burnout buld). Try fastening the passenger seatbelt. If it stops, try unplugging and the replugging the connecters under the front seats. As it's a pattern, soulds like an error code (simular to that of a personal computer when it couldn't display the problem on the screen it will issue beeps). Try to catch the pattern, such as 3 beeps, them 2 beeps, short silence then it repeats. Airbag is 5 chimes for 5 times, the silence. Repeats after several minutes. Ford has a beep warning built in to indicate a problem it has detected, if it can't inform you otherwise. Catch the pattern and Google it such as "Ford beep 3+2". Kind of sounds like the airbag light is bad, except it shouldn't be doing this with the key out. Only alarm I can think of when the car is off is the headlight alarm. One additional thought. How old is your battery? -
Sync 3 Navigation Failure

For Sync 3 Ford dropped the Microsoft Auto operating system and switched to the Blackberry's QNX system. Did a google and haven't really seen a lot of problems with the new system. -
Ford Edge 2016 SEL VS Titanium cabin noise

Be advised that when your lease is up, you will need to turn the car back in ..... in original condition. Any modifications will need to be reversed back to original, AT YOUR COST. And returning the exhaust system back to original will be more expensive than whatever you spend on an aftermarket system. And, depending on the dealer and lender, your modifications may also require "other" parts needing replacment as you made may be considered as causing those to be weakened. A good example would be if you had lowered the car. This puts extreme stresses on the entire drive structure, bearings, struts, seals, etc. If the dealer wanted, he could find fault with so much more. Check your lease papers before you change anything and remember it's up to you to return it in original condition (minus normal wear as defined in the agreement of course). They WILL charge you for the costs to return back to original, things such as road-rash on the wheels (new wheels), scratches (body work at Ford Service dept prices), etc. Had a friend at work that took pristine care of his Explorer over a four-year lease. Parked way from other cars, etc. that sort of stuff. Had to pay over $750 when he turned it back in, for a new wheel for road rash and a few (small) scratches.
