  2. Try a different cable. It could be it's not passing data. If you have both apps installed on the phone and the appropriate settings toggled, Android Auto should fire right up. You do need the phone connected via a data cable. The one that comes with the phone should work though.

  9. Hi there, I'm in the transportation window industry and have tested both types extensively. Both have their pros and cons. When performing FMVSS 217 push-out testing, laminated 6mm typically lets go at around 4-500 lbs of force application. 6mm tempered can exceed 1,200 pounds. Laminated is best for passenger retention and has the best impact absorption properties. Tempered is really tough but when it lets go it makes a hell of a mess as you well know. Ford switched to tempered because it can handle a high degree of loading and twisting. It has superior tensile strength and will take a lot more abuse before it does let go. They probably went thinner too to reduce weight. Tempered glass with film application is the ultimate though. That would be my choice.

  11. They wouldn't be on there if they didn't serve a purpose. Car manufacturers aren't in the habit of adding unnecessary cost to their products. The engineers felt there was a need for them. That's good enough for me.
  12. Why are they not visible to other members? This runs counter to what most other forums do and to me makes absolutely no sense.
  13. This is a common issue on a lot of Fords. The fan has a high current draw when it is in good shape and it gets worse when the fan gets older. The plugs are typically the first area to experience a conductive loss and that results in higher resistance which causes the meltdown. Make sure the replacement connections are clean and tight when you replace them. It would also be a good idea to check the current draw of the fan once the connection is repaired to make sure it isn't exceeding the fuse/wiring ratings.
  14. Here's an interesting alternative to the Sprint Booster. I like that it's Bluetooth enabled and can be controlled by your smart device. You can tuck the attached controller out of the way and forget about it. The same part number works for my Mustang so if I don't like how it works on my Nautilus i can switch it over to the other car. Pedal Commander
  15. It's not the same as a tune, it's a plug & play device. The PCM isn't overwritten so there's no way that can Ford detect that it was ever installed. The only way that Ford can detect it is if you were dumb enough to leave it connected and took the vehicle in for warranty work.
  16. What sucks more swallows more. I'll stick with the factory paper filters and the superior filtration they provide.
  17. It does it even when the key fob is in the house in my case. It's a light clank noise and doesn't sound like a pump pressurizing to me but I could be wrong.
  18. Taking a vehicle in for a diagnosis with a tune file installed is grounds for warranty denial. Whatever the root cause is it wont be covered by Ford .Typically the dealership will choose not be complicit.
  19. Just read up on the British Seagull. Not an outboard motor guy but I've owned several 2 strokes. My dad once owned a 1959 DKW car. It had a 3 cylinder 2 stroke for a power plant. It sounded wild when on the boil.
  20. Okay that sounds more plausible than the fuel pump priming based on the sound I'm hearing. It's a light metallic clanking sound. What I want to know is why it's so random. It occasionally does it when I exit the car, enter the car or when I'm near the car, when I walk into the garage, etc.
  21. Always a good practice for all automatic transmission equipped vehicles. It's hard on the parking pawl to park on an incline/decline without engaging the E-brake first.
  22. Nautilus does it too. It sounds like a faint metallic clank. Does it at odd intervals. Walking near the vehicle triggers it sometimes. You'd think the dealer would be more up to speed on their product and would be able to offer a better explanation on what it is and what it does.
