	Nothing's better than OEM.

2nd on using only Motorcraft. Others have been disappointed with the aftermarket units. To the point of pulling out them out and replacing with Motorcraft. Noise, vibration are two problems they reported.

TPMS Sensor difference 2007 & 2011+ Models?enigma-2 replied to CivicSi907's topic in Wheels & Tires I was curious and looked these up again, only looked up by 2007 Edge instead of models. Used O'Riely Auto parts. Both stem mounted and band mounted are listed a working. They also advertise that they (as keast the stem mounted) didn't require programming. I'm guessing that in 2007 it was OEM to use s band, but looks like both versions can be used now. (And I agree with checking out Ebay. Amazon as well, as O'Brian is expensive). http://m.oreillyauto.com/h5/r/oap/site/c/search/TPMS+Sensor/05430/C0337.oap?year=2007&make=Ford&model=Edge&vi=1434489&reset=true

TPMS Sensor difference 2007 & 2011+ Models?enigma-2 replied to CivicSi907's topic in Wheels & Tires Both are 315 mHz. Difference appears to be the size and type of wheel they fit (chromed plated or machined aluminum wheels). May want to talk with your local dealers parts department to see if they work with your particular car. For example, the 7L1Z1A189A sensor is designed for the 2007 Edge with 17" wheels, 18" machined aluminum wheels & 20" wheels.

Your probably right. I was keying off having water in the oil 'and' low compression in couple of cylinders. Didn't think a blown seal on the water pump could cause low compression. That and he has a 2013. Seems I read somewhere that ware pump failures were more prone on 07-08 3.5l. Sy have been a TSB which only covered those years, but nonetheless all other years are still vulnerable. As for why it didn't want to continue to run, maybe the low compression played a factor? As for your Edge running hot, I would imagine you would want to rule out the thermostat first. Never replaced one on the 3.5l, is it easy to change or a pita like everything else?

Responded in a different forum. Please don't post multiple posts in different forums, on the same problem. Pisses everyone off.

Help 2011 ford edge back left door ajarenigma-2 replied to Hate ford's topic in Forum Help & Site Suggestions Have you though of replacing the switch? Removing the rear door trim panel is simple enough: -Remove the handle bezel by pulling off the screw cover, removing the screw and the the cover itself -Lift and remove the door window control switch matt -Remove the screw -Remove the 6 trim panel screws -Disengage the bottom of the trim panel edge by pulling outward to disengage the push nuts -Lift trim panel upward out of the belt line moulding -Remove the trim panel for door and disconnect electrical connectors. With trim panel off, you now have access to the latch assembly with the failed switch. From the looks of it, you should be able to remove the trim panel in five minutes. I remember seeing one video on YouTube where the fella was able to remove the switch from the latch without removing the latch. (Takes more time, but removing the latch may prove to be the better way to go).

2014 Edge with only 28,000 miles has Rust issue on back hatch seemenigma-2 replied to FreddieP's topic in Wheels & Tires I have 20's on my MKX and it rides a lot rougher than the MKX loaner I drove which had 18's. I believe the type of tires on the car can affect the ride as well. I'm running Bridgestone's.

Could also be a blown head gasket; compression drops on the cylinders blown, and coolant leaks in. It's possible to have a new gasket installed if there's not too much damage in the bearings from the watered-down oil. They can actually take a lot of abuse. Depends on how much water got into the oil. Had this problem years ago, spent around $800 and the car ran fine for couple of years until I sold it.

I got a second "we still haven't forgotten about you and will fix the passenger airbag in your 2009 MKX when we finally get replacment airbags or you sell the car first" letter last week. Their still thinking about me. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy deep down inside. (Course that could be the glass of wine I just drank). "Here lies enigma-2 His airbags need to be replaced He hit a bump and they went boom, And now he's spilt in two".

Just installed new puddle lamps with LEDs and laser LEDs projecting the word "LINCOLN" with the Lincoln star on the ground in front of the door. There's a model for "FORD" as well. According to Car & Driver, there's 110 lbs in a modern Bentley. So at least half that in a MKX.

Yup, I agree. But to make up for the lack of rear windows opening, the Panoramic moonroof pops open. And if you don't have a BAMR (moonroof), the back hatch window explodes.

Wipers. OEM or Aftermarket?enigma-2 replied to candurin's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers If that's the silicone rubber blade, they work great, but winter ice tore them to shreads. Soft rubber, you need to keep the glass clean; dirt and (esp) ice, causes them to wear out quickly.

Consider the price of copper and the miles and miles of wiring that would go unused ... Price point, they submit an order for specific products, it's the subcontractors the are required to warehouse the product and deliver it on a just-in-time need. As to options, every car Ford builds is a special build, the harness is only a small aspect of the total control. Probably the only standardized component is the steel body shell. After that there's color, options, packages, dealer requests, local regulations .....

Wipers. OEM or Aftermarket?enigma-2 replied to candurin's topic in Glass, Lenses, Lighting, Mirrors, Sunroof (BAMR), Wipers I was told years ago by my dealer (service rep) that the blades that come with the car are different blades than the replacment blades sold by the dealers. Personally, I've use Trico for most of my life. Have tried most every blade out there at one time or another, but always came back to Trico. One way to extend the life of your blades is to wipe the blades once a month (or so, I'm not consistant on this) with an alcohol wipe. Cleans the dirt off while breaking the oil film that holds the dirt to the blade.

Try pressing the door unlock once (to first unlock to doors). Then press and hold the door unlock for three seconds to open all windows. (I dont remember precisely but I think the door must be locked first for the window function to operate). Also this feature can be turned on and off. Make certain it's turned on. See your owner's manual.
