    • Just replaced the brake booster again. Did it 4yrs ago cuz the pedal was going to the floor and it was making a hissing sound. The first came with the master cylinder and I bled them. Things were good. Started doing the same thing. Pedal going to the floor with the hissing sound when it was released. New one didn’t come with a master cylinder so brake line weren’t disconnected. Pedal still goes to the floor. Pedal feels strong when car if off. After starting it goes to the floor. Could it be the master cylinder or check valve? Where is the check valve? It is the part that goes into the booster? That hose runs from the intake to the booster and then from the booster to the air tube after where the MAF sensor goes? Very frustrating. Do the brakes have to be bled after swapping the booster even though I did t disconnect any brake lines? When the car it running I can disconnect the vacuum line I take tube and I can feel it suck but I have no pedal. At my whits end please help
    • I drive a 2008 Edge, pre-owned. Its had its fair share of problems, but recently i followed some advice on this forum about a sloshing sound in the AC unit and water dripping down on my foot while turning. Someone said to purge the AC drain with air, and that worked. But now it seems like the Fan stoped working, and it only blows air when I am driving fairly fast. Do i need to replace a fan module or something? Sorry in advance, I don't know much about cars.

    • Hi.   We've had our ford edge two weeks.    It's a diesel 210ps 2018 automatic.    So we were on the motorway. Got to road works. Stop start traffic and crawling. Then when we could speed up the yellow spanner light came on. And we were in restricted power.  Got home turned the car off and on and it was fine.  Drove it today and tried to repeat the problem but it's been fine. Driving very slow. Stopping and starting. No problems.    We'll ring the dealer tomorrow.  But I was just wondering what it sounds like?

    • filters are a subject of particular interest (hah!) to me everything is a compromise. You have several conflicting parameters to work within, like oil pressure & flow rate, versus engine drag which effects fuel economy. But of course, the required oil flow at a specific viscosity is a non-negotiable value for any given engine, defined by machining tolerances and wear. Pressure requirements are contingent on clearances and load (power stroke) on the bearing to journal mating.  Flow requirements are contingent on how quickly the pressurized journals squirt their cushion out, and back to the pan (which again is influenced by design clearances & wear) You can make a filter that would not let anything over 0.1 micron particulate through it, BUT, you'd never get enough flow to make the pressure to float your bearings unless it had Massive surface area.   The Mann filter does look like it has a lot more surface area but being a cellulose filter media, the pose sizing is highly irregular compared to a woven synthetic filter media, and that irregularity makes for some larger pores (bad for filtration but great for flow) and some tight pores which are arguably wasted filter surface until or unless the large pores are filled up. But is won't crush because it is flowing a lot of (less clean) oil. The primary benefit of synthetic filter media is that a tightly woven synthetic media can have extremely predictable and normalized small pore size which allows for a high level of filtration without being too restrictive to flow rate.  But a heavy oil at high flow rates will still exert a lot of pressure on the media and crush it if it is not well supported.
