  1. Did an inspection of the work from the dealership. The mechanic managed to rip my engine cover into three pieces and he never said anything so guess where I will be tomorrow? Yep telling them to replace the engine cover since they fraudulently damaged my car.
  2. Most common failure is the climate control module. You would need to hook a scan tool to it and start a diagnostic or even try to reprogram it. If programing does not work then a replacement may be the solution.
  3. The lower mount on the Drivers side seems to be the one that fails most if it fails. My Engine moved a lot because of the transmission torque mount below had failed. Plus the noise you heard was as it turned out to be a broken passenger side sway bar link. That Orange Crush had a hard life. LOL
  4. I needed to break something so I broke my drivers side window with a hammer. Felt good and was fun!!
  5. Ever get that trapped feeling? Well if you are locked in the back of your Edge then this is how you can release the latch from the inside.
  6. Brake booster repair and the brakes are better than even before we bought it. The hard pedal is definitely a sign of pending failure so take note. If your brake pedal is hard when you go to start your Edge then your brake booster is failing.
  7. Most likely the mount below the battery box is the one that is causing your issues. Not real difficult to replace just need to remove the airbox and battery tray. Should open it up for replacement.
  8. Just start using high mileage oil with additional seal protection. The seal additives will help swell the seals and slow the seepage. I would not worry about it unless you are losing a lot of oil (2-3 quarts over 5k miles) My 2008 had that for over 150K miles and it never really lost a lot of oil. Less than a quart every 5K miles. Cheaper to just add a bit more oil.
  9. The dreaded brake booster failure has hit my wife's Edge (Blueberry) I have an appointment to have it replaced under the warranty extension program with Ford. Blueberry has 88K miles on it and my other Edge has no issues with the brake booster at 159K miles. Go figure. I have attached a link of a live broadcast as the booster was failing. https://www.facebook.com/bill.trammelljr/videos/10209116027530733/
  10. Just like a baby it needed to latch on. (could not resist) most likely it was not seated correctly.
  11. Rare issue. My 2008 had a leaking rear main seal but it had over 200K miles on it. My current 2011 has 158K miles and no leaking seal.
  12. A great tool to have is the OBDLink MX with the FORScan App from FORSCAN. I review the device and show how to install and use it with your smart phone (android only)
  13. Great little OBDLink MX with Bluetooth. The Forscan app on google play works very well. Makes monitoring your Edge simple.
  14. If you do that I would like to make as suggestion. Please add my name to your life insurance policy. All kidding aside. You can do the same thing with a gopro camera.
  15. I would say your strut bearing mounts are shot. New mounts and struts are in order.
  16. Unfortunately ford chooses not to provide the part except as a whole assembly. If you are a DIY'er you can replace this without having to pay the labor and it would be much cheaper.
  17. Agree go OEM and then forget about it. You will be happier.
  18. these floor mats are economical and have a much softer appearance when compared to the weathertechs. Plus they are water proof as tested. Time will tell on durability so let the testing begin.
  19. I reset my PCM and have video on the before and after of the reset showing how the throttle body responds to a reset and relearn.
  20. PDM drain and throttle body reset. This video will show the differences visually through the use of a OBDLInks MX bluetooth devices and the FORScan app used on my smart phone. I captured the actual before readings and then the after readings. Plus the battery saver function was reset which also demonstrates the PCM was reset during this process.
  21. If you do not like the harsh rubber look of the Weathertechs floor mats these 3D MAXpiders have a softer look and as my 6yr can attest to they are water proof. She should know she is a water expert.
  22. Initial results of the AMSOIL have me impressed!!!! Noticeable MPG increase. Only the first four days of on the road use but, I have already ordered the oil for my wife's Edge. Oil testing will come at the 10K mile mark in about 8 weeks or so.
  23. I am confused (officially) so you pulled the engine to change the serpentine belt and then beat on the fly wheel with a hammer and broke some rivets? I might be wrong in my understanding. I am also going to say the fly wheel most likely has no rivets as it is most presumably bolted on to the engine. This is going down hill fast I suggest contacting a knowledgeable mechanic friend to assist you.
  24. Might be more informative to actually watch it being done. Note use three strong ties and and make sure they are strong. small one are no good.
