2011 ford edge noise coming from rear left wheel
macbwt replied to upurz1's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
No ABS light? Check the wheel sensor. Also is the Low Frequency Damper installed? When you replaced the brakes did you use the correct tool to turn the caliper plungers back into the caliper? Are the nipples on the pads seated into the caliper plunger correctly? Also are the pads in correctly and the guide clips installed correctly. This has occurred in the past so I am asking. Nice color. Then again I have the same model year and color. -

The 1st Gen (2007-2010) Edges and the 2012+ Ford Edges do not have a power steering magnetic filter installed in them. The only model year Edge to have a power steering magnetic filter is the 2011 model year and I am not sure it covers the entire year of manufacturing. The part number can be traced as coded back to the F150 and other series of Ford Trucks. Not sure as to why this was installed for just one year or less. I performed a filter replacement after I found that the replacement line cost more than just installing a new filter. The filter appeared in pretty good shape when I cut it open. The mileage on the 2011 was 156K miles so figured a maintenance replacement would be a good idea.

Car suddenly won't start - My DIY Mission to resolve
macbwt replied to mrtm2016's topic in 2007 Edge & MKX
Locate your body to frame grounds and remove them, Clean them and the contact areas and re-attach them. If you want to go the whole way on the testing. test your grounds before you clean them and then after. you may very well have a bad ground as far as the starting issue. Check other positive connections also. As things rust and get old contact can be lost.- 25 replies

Changing Spark Plugs, found extra hose in back of engine cover..
macbwt replied to mrtm2016's topic in 2007 Edge & MKX
I did address the PCV but mine is much different than the 2007. The 2007 (as stated) was a one off with the heated pcv. I did make a separate video which you may not of seen but still it was on a 2008 without a heat PCV. Either way a bit of a pain to change but nothing special. I changed the 2008 PCV without removing the intake manifold so it can be done. -
very simple it merely replaces the drain and fill. They measure the dip stick to the line first as you do not want to just shove the hose down into the transmission and come into contact with anything. Then they fill the machine with new fluid and it then sucks out one quart and returns one quart, waits while fluid is circulated then sucks out one quart and replaces one quart. Thing is you can see the old dark fluid coming out and new going it to the transmission. Eventually the dark fluid being sucked out become lighter and lighter in color changing to a red equal to the fluid being put into the transmission. Then you finish your coffee and pay the man. IMO is beats the heck out of drain and fills.

Car suddenly won't start - My DIY Mission to resolve

Just to be sure the auto store tested the alternator under load with AC, LIghts, radio, interior fans all running? Do not turn on wipes as they are intermittent and can cause varied readings. My issue resulted in the alternator not showing it's full potential and if I did not pay real close attention a quick check would of slid me in the wrong direction. My alternator was putting out charge but under load is was good enough to not send a low battery system light but just enough not to charge the battery under load so when the Edge was running it was draining the battery. Real tricky deal. Once I replaced the alternator the battery problem disappeared.- 25 replies

Seat belt and throttle body use to totally different computers if I recall my information correctly.

I have been using the fluid transfer machine with my Edges for years now. ( I refer to it as a flush) but it is a fluid transfer. Best way to get most of the fluid out in my opinion and experience. I have read that the Flush machine requires pressure and transmission temps to be at near operational since the Thermal Bypass valve directing hot transmission fluid has to be open to exchange the fluid in the transmission cooler. In the trucks this bypass valve is located internally. The Edge has an external thermal bypass valve mounted on the side of the transmission. The lines do not go to a transmission cooler. The transmission fluid cooler and the AC condenser are the same part. All Edges use the AC condenser as a transmission cooler. FYI my transmission fluid changes cost me about 150 dollars.

Confused about unever rear brake pad wear
macbwt replied to wlepse's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
as far as my wife the gas and brake peddle are welded together. -
2011 transmission I would by pass on as some early Transmissions had valve body issues. Go for at least a 2012 transmission but up to a 2014. Make sure it is matched as far as FWD and AWD. Engine is the same routine, but if you can get a 3.5 to match that is newer the better also I think there was a change to the Ecoboost so make sure it matches as your 2011 is a non ecoboost. Just an FYI if you buy a used engine. Might want to change out the water pump in that one also for a newer water pump.

The definition of procrastination: First front and rear alignment on my Edge in 155,000 miles. Paid the price though by not having the alignment performed I subsequently ruined at least two tires if not three. I had this alignment performed in preparation of the installation of new tires.

pretty easy to do.

Did you get a thorough and complete charging system check performed? I found this issue with my 2011 Edge after a battery issue and it resulted in a bad alternator that was barely working. Just enough charge to try to keep up but yet not enough under load.

2 problems after replacing power brake booster
macbwt replied to Clyde Epperson's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
Did you purchase a new brake light switch for the job. If not more times than not the switch needs to be replaced also. Get an OBDII scanner and check for the sensor malfunction. -
Powertrain malfunction light... the wrench of doom?
macbwt replied to Katie Belton's topic in 2008 Edge & MKX
Get an Bluetooth OBDII links MX and the Forscan App. I will be posting a video on this device and the apps to show how to use it. Time to start planning on the eventual failure of the TSS and OSS sensors. -
It can be repaired in the garage with jack stands and some one with methodical abilities. Hi Katie! The hardest part is 1) preparation and gathering the parts and tools ( torque wrench) and then 2) taking a deep breath and starting in on it.
