Any way to fix the numb steering?
omar302 replied to ituhata's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
My previous vehicle was a 2011 MKX with a traditional hydraulic steering and I'd say my 2016 Sport is at least as solid as the MKX was, if not a bit more. Wife's '13 Altima had a hybrid system, am electrically driven hydraulic pump (AFAIK) and it feels twitchy. Also, remember that Ford's EPAS had what they call drift compensation, what it does is add some steering torque in case there was road crowning (if that's what it's called) or there was crosswinds, kind off like to relieve some stress Fromm keeping the steering turned all the time. Something that will take some time getting used to. For the adaptive steering, what it does is actually make you turn the steering wheel less at slow speeds. You'll find that going to full right or left will only take 1 turn when parking. Found a way to see how much it adds by rotating the steering wheel about a quarter to half turn when the engine is off at which the adaptive steering would not be working, then start the engine and the steering wheel will turn by it self to add the adaptive compensation it usually adds if you had turned the wheel with the engine on. Off topic but kinda cool to see it work out of the ordinary. -

I can't say about that of the steering on my Sport. It feels solid at high speeds. I'd suggest you check the alignment & tires just to make sure everything is good. Also try the steering modes, sport/normal to see if one is better for you. -

2018 Edge Titanium Sync 3 want to install Navigation
omar302 replied to jlbbc1975's topic in Audio, Backup, Navigation & SYNC
Ford doesn't offer it as an upgrade, so you can't go to a dealer & ask them to do it. Like what Nick stated above, you can use Android Auto or Apple Car Play. If factory navigation is a must (though with outdated maps) you either so it yourself or go with expensive solutions. Another source for a factory navigation module programmed ready is from Jason who is a member here, @jmr061. You can check his website. He has Sync 3 Nav modules for less than half the price you mentioned from 4DTECH. -
Yes, but there is a valid issue, with no battery the parking brake cannot be released on the 2015-2018 Edge.

2018 Edge Sport 21 inch Wheels Shaking
omar302 replied to Mailman58's topic in Brakes, Chassis & Suspension
Did they use a road force balancing machine? One with a steel roller that presses on the wheel during measurement to make sure the wheel is round within specs. -
1) It is stated in the owners manual how to manually override the Brake-Shift Interlock. 2) yes, unfortunately you can't, you have to connect a power supply to release the parking brake, though newer models (I think 2019+) now have a manual cable mechanism for such cases. 3) It is stated in the owners manual to remove the cover on the driver door handle & use the key blade from the fob to unlock manually.

Yes, nothing was ever stated that the 2.7L on the Edge was changed, even the Ford website still states "2.7L EcoBoost® V6, Twin-turbocharged, Direct-injection".

@jmr061 can you post a PDF of the latest TSB? Thanks.
-
My first guess would be that the PDF would be a 1st print while the html version is the always the latest, in the PDF version there is no difference between both drivetrains (2.0 or 2.7) while the html version does. Anyway, found the Ford Towing guide and it says the same thing as the html version, the 2.0L 4 cyl cannot be towed on 4 wheels while the 2.7L V6 AWD can.

You can view the Owners Manual directly from this link.

DA8Z-19G364-A Remote Start
omar302 replied to rcahoy's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
It is to enable the vehicle to know if the hood is open or not, remote start will not work if the hood is open. It is probably for safety reasons to prevent accidental engine starting if someone is working on the engine. -
Comprehensive List of Possible Forscan Mods?
omar302 replied to ben senise's topic in Accessories & Modifications
I can't say which exact value you need, but what I know is that the 2011-2014 Edge is very close to the 2011-2015 Explorer in terms of ForScan changes & values. The Fusion (2013+) is different. Maybe this thread on the Explorer will help: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?threads/remote-start-facts-2011-2015-only.418625/ -
@jmr061 just posted before your post a TSB for fixing (or reducing) this issue. I couldn't find a PDF of the new TSB but found the old one, and seems interesting how they are trying to tackle the issue. 17-0056.pdf

Just guessing here, but maybe the Titanium emblem is higher so that the center line of both the Model emblem & "EcoBoost" and/or AWD is aligned with the center of "Edge".

Comprehensive List of Possible Forscan Mods?
omar302 replied to ben senise's topic in Accessories & Modifications
Just in case you missed it, when shifting into revers, you have to press the button for left or right mirror to make that specific mirror tilt, they don't tilt automatically and you can't have both tilted at the same time. -

Got you, I did it on the IPC (I think its called Silent mode iny IPC) and can enable it when wanted, especially useful during interior cleaning. For the revers mirror tilt, I am able to write the change to IPC, bit the option just doesn't come up, maybe it because I have an export model, but even without the IPC I still have the tilt feature working. -

@wandering mind Although the IPC doesn't change, it doesn't mean that the feature is not there, try to hit the mirror switches (left or right) when in reverse & see if it worked. The IPC change is only to give you a way to enable or disable it through the IPC. Also, why didn't you just use the button on the overhead console to disable the interior lights to come on when opening a door? -
OK, first I am not affiliated with this company, just happened to find them & used their summer tire and found it good. It is not a known brand, but being made the Netherlands should be good. They also have a winter tire in 21". https://www.vredestein.com/car-suv-van/tyre-finder/tyres/product/0/Ford/Edge/2016/Sport/3-8714692339684/0/0/911-wintrac-xtreme-s

@akirby I agree on the Explorer, the police version already outran the AWD & RWD 5.7 Charger Police versions, in acceleration, top speed & track. https://www.autoblog.com/2018/10/04/2020-ford-police-interceptor-utility-performance-tests/ The regular 5.7 charger is quicker than the Edge, though, the Police Charger has a 5 Speed auto versus the 8-speed in the civilian version.
