  1. Radio presets & its settings don't reset, also destinations/routes saved in Navigation should not. Climate settings? what settings? you only have the last setting and it will reset to default set temp but you just change normally. Anything else? The left display settings in the instrument cluster will reset some settings like the "menu memory will revert to default with no memory, enhanced trip computer will revert to the simple setting and the vertical tach display will revert to not being shown. Also the miles to empty might change to be based on a set default mileage instead of your actual average for the past few hundred miles. The engine idle & transmission shift calibrations will also reset, but they adapt quickly after driving. Actually it is a good thing to do, disconnecting the battery every once in while to reset the car's electronics. Just like you PC or smartphone.
  2. For $500/- I would highly recommend skipping it. 1st of all, the price is too high considering it is a 2011 model, it would be better to sell your Edge & buy another with the options you need. Also, don't forget that once any part of the mechanism breaks down, the whole system will be down until you'd be able source the parts as they wont be readily available. Finally, even though it is a convenience, it is not really worth paying $500/- for it.
  3. Just found this thread, though it is very old, but might still be helpful.
  4. Is the issue on both sides, driver & passenger? If yes, it's highly unlikely to be the actuator as it would mean that both (RH & LH) failed at the same time. Being a relatively newish car, it is probably an electronic thing. Try disconnecting the car's battery for 10-15 minutes to see if it resets itself.
  5. What effects did you feel after replacing the rear shocks? I am trying to determine if mine also need replacement @ 60K miles as on some highways a feel bumps which cannot be seen on the road. Its like the wheels are bouncing a lot, though it is not a balancing issue.
  6. For information, in the order guide there is an option for All-Season (A/S) Snow Chain Compatible Tires & the size listed is 235/60R18. Might want to consider that size.
  7. I don't know. All I know it is the cover of the bank facing the front of the Edge (with oil fill cap). It was replaced on my MKX under warranty for the same issue & I can clearly see the new cover.
  8. There was a redesign of the front valve cover to fix this issue of oil going into the intake.
  9. If the other half of the shield is still under the vehicle, you can put a strap from the front screw to the rear screw to hold the 2 halfs up. You might also be able to glue/sew/staple the 2 halves together. As far as I know, this piece is only for aerodynamics, i.e. reduce drag and/or wind noise. It covers the middle/side bottom of the Edge (under the right side front/rear passengers. I don't think the 2007-2010 Edge/MKX had it, couldn't find a part number.
  10. Yes, as stated above, it is an aerodynamic panel. There are 2 pieces, left & right: http://www.tascaparts.com/oe-ford/bt4z7811398b http://www.tascaparts.com/oe-ford/bt4z7811398a
  11. As far as I know, the 2010 did not offer a backup camera. It was offered starting with the 2011 refresh.
  12. It requires a valve cover replacement, not the PCV valve. This post has the most info I was able to find: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?threads/oil-found-in-air-filter.348388/page-3#post-3400444
  13. akirby, may you also ask your friend engineer if the Edge/MKX platform (2011-14 specifically) is prone to vibrating on washboard pavement? It might be a SUV/crossover issue (high center of gravity with relative short wheelbase) but on slightly washboard pavement my MKX bumps/vibrates a lot more than my wife's Altima even though it has a harder harder suspension & with lower profile tires.
  14. I remember a member or 2 that said just disconnecting & reconnecting the actuator made it work for a while, maybe that's your case and why the actuator is now working.
  15. Shocks & Struts certainly have an effect on ride quality, biggest proof are the adjustable shocks/struts such as those on the 2016 MKX and the continuously controlled damping (CCD).
  16. If I remember correctly, shocks are the same between the Edge & MKX, shocks differ only based on 22" wheels & AWD/FWD. I believe the springs are the main difference, you have many choices based on wheel size, AWD/FWD and even based on having a vista roof or not, apparently it is that much heavier. So if you really want the MKX ride, go for the springs also.
  17. I think it depends on the washer fluid being used or if you are in freezing zones. Here with 120+ heat in summer & parked under the sun still didn't cause a problem with the original nozzles on my 2011 MKX. Though I would like to aim them lower as especially on the driver side it just doesn't reach the lower part.
  18. Did you try disconnecting the battery for ~10 minutes & then re-connecting it? Maybe the compass would reset & work. As for your Sync issues (display changing on its own or turning off the radio, often difficult to turned back on), these are not normal issues & you should mention this to your dealer. You have an extended warranty on the APIM that is responsible for MyFord Touch. It might be a hardware issue or it might require a complete re-flash that only a dealer can do.
  19. The new BMW movie was already released : https://youtu.be/jzUFCQ-P1Zg
  20. Hi Mac, thanks for the video again. Did you notice any difference in the Edge with the new purge valve?
  21. Just a thought, could also be the fan Relay. Though I don't remember any Edge owner reporting it failing.
  22. Yes it is a touch button, and it is the only way to turn on the flashers. Touch it & hold for a second & it should emit a tone like all other touch buttons (HVAC & Radio), if it does not then you might need a replacement panel. The 2013-2014 models have a physical button in the same place & have heard from some who were able to install a 2013-2014 panel on a 2011-2012 model. You can also try cleaning the button as it is a capacitive button, also maybe try cleaning it from behind.
  23. If the high beam indicator in the instrument cluster is also stuck on (does not turn off) then I'd be even more inclined toward the turn signal switch (MFS). If it were sticking shutters the high beam indicator should turn on/off with switch.
  24. None, as far as I know, at least not on the 3.5/3.7 V6.
  25. This thread has a how to fix the a notchy turn signal lever, though it is a different issue, the removal & installation of the switch is the same for the 2011 Edge. Also note that you a need a 2011-2012 switch only, Newer model's wont work correctly. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?threads/notchy-turn-signal-lever-fix.388119/
