First and most obvious question:   Was the transmission fluid ever changed?  Most likely not and you probably have no idea how that car was treated before you bought it.   Step 1:  Change the transmission fluid   Whenever one buys a used car, one has to expect to perform routine maintenance, at least, on the car just purchased.

So, you think getting hot coolant splashed in your face is bad?   Check!   🙂

I have just over 30k miles on my recently purchased of an used 2024 edge 2.0.  I have noticed a couple things regarding the transmission.   I have noticed if I pull out onto a street that is steep and allow it to coast downhill to get up to speed (without pressing the gas pedal), it seems the torque converter is already locked up.  As the car goes downhill faster, the engine rpm increases to a point the tranny shifts into the next gear.  The rpm falls back with the gear change, and as the car picks up more speed again, the rpm goes up to a point and again shifts to the next gear.   This repeats a few times until 25 or 30 mph is reached.  At that speed, its hard to tell if the engine is still holding the car back.   My question is, did Ford design the transmission to operate this way?  All other automatics I have ever owned have freewheeled going downhill and will go faster and faster without the engine or transmission ever holding the car back.   I asked the "very young" service tech at the dealership about this and he said with his 2 years on the job, no one has ever complained about it. My second question... I have noticed in heavy stop and go traffic, there is some tranny shudder around 20-25 mph while barely giving it throttle.  Almost as if it it hunting the gear it needs to be in...or as if the torque converter is already locked up not allowing smooth shift.  It seems this is more noticeable on the hot summer days in heavy stop and go traffic from stop light to stop light.  If you give it more gas and go on and accelearate, I do not notice it.  I have also noticed at less than 20 mph speeds, when you let off the gas pedal, the engine is slowing the car down...again as if the torque converter is already locked up. I would expect you could coast to a stop with the engine slowing you down.  Anyone elses Edge do the same thing?  Todays trannys are so complex, temperamental, and costly that if there is an issue, I want to address it before the warranty expires.  

possibly the flex pipe just  down from the cats, mine leaks under hard accel. then stops and goes away. 

Apparently my family are aggressive cup holder users. The epoxy and other adhesives didn't work out, shocker, I know.   I was going to get the POM plastic pop rivets and tool, but I figured I would try a 1/8 aluminum with a backing on both sides. I think this is the winner. I have a plastic welding kit I will do the 2 that don't have an open backside, but I won't be doing it again, I will order another cup holder.   The gore: I found a decent length one, I have quite a few mismatched collections of rivets. I would have liked a little longer body, but these snapped the mandrel before enough pressure to break the plastic, and with the backers, shouldn't pull through.

I did all sorts of bench tests on  the Dorman and based on those tests I assumed it must work, but after a good web search found that for reasons unknown the 3rd party evap valves don't work - installing a Motocraft confirmed the search results.

It is called "Radial Tire Pull". Just as @RPGR90s stated. If it still exists look up Firestone 500 problems. Those were replaced with almost as bad Firestone 721. Luckily, we don't see as much as in the early days switch to radials. Also fewer flats! And never forget the TPC radial problems good old GM.

I pulled off the Dorman unit and tested it with a 12v battery and it appears to open correctly as well as hold suction.    As far as the under vehicle cannister, the only thing I found was forward of the muffler that has some hoses going to it and an electrical connector. It mounts right up against the floorpan just forward of the muffler.

Has anyone else try to change the fuel low pressure sensor on a 2.0 ecoboost Ford Edge and it's not where it's supposed to be? I've read it's supposed to be on the line along the firewall but trying to find mine it's not there. Anyone have insight into this? Thank you in advance

@RPGR90s I have used the Dorman evap purge valve and it did not work, or didn't work for long.   I don't know what it is and why the third party valves don't work but can confirm that the Motocraft replacements do work.   The current one I bought from this eBay seller and its been working for one year. Genuine Ford Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid GL3Z-9B325-B | eBay   Get the free Forscan Lite to use with an OBDII adapter to read and reset codes.   You'll find the PDF's in this thread showing the location of the canister - it's not easy to access.
